My son has a Ruger American ranch in 450 bushmaster and he loves it. He shot a 300+lb pig with it last year high shoulder shot and it went about 10yds and done! I'm impressed as well!

Looking at the rifles, is the Backcountry worth $1000 more to save maybe 1/2 a pound over the hunter?

It does look to be one of those that looks good on paper but does not do anything that other cartridges do from what I've read. I just wanted to see if I was missing something. The .375 Ruger would be outstanding, in fact may still buy one some day. However the .375 Ruger is a long action (overall length is 3.34 same as the .30-06) so unfortunately it will not work for this particular build.

From what I've read, the safety issue is that people who no have do idea what they are doing and changed the barrel putting the rifle back together improperly. It still looks to be a sound design if the proper care is taken. I'm disappointed that due to the recall it is no longer modular
