I didn't read the whole thread but if ducks in NS is your thing I dont think you can go wrong with a Lab. Setters are my dogs I live for them . I have had Gordons and English setters all my life , their job is to find birds. Ptarmigan on the open barrens and grouse in the woods in my case. Many...
There are a fair few modern sporting rifles (modern semiautos) not on the list. I don't like the term modern sporting rifles but it is more accurate than assault rifles. I despise this government. I bought a semi auto shotgun I as a teen at Sears and no FAC, PAC, was required. I have seen the...
Shotguns are not banned. Give them a few years though

Bill Blair himself said that is not the intent. The OIC is a mess
There will always be a few good decent people in every country. The UK like Canada where I live is in decline no doubt but there are always a few holdouts
I bet he dumps her eventually. He will learn. She isn't worth it
I have heard it said before that a man marries a woman hoping that she won't change and a women marries a man with a plan in her head of how she is going to change him.
And yes as a society we have grown fat and soft. I tend to run...
I have killed quite a few moose with the Remington 180 grain 30-06 core-lokts . I lost one moose a few years ago that still pains me to this day but it wasn't the bullets fault. It was mine.
Licences are not expensive for us residents. Yes the weather is terrible. I have traveled worldwide with my work including Africa (but never hunted there) and the weather here is consistently the most uncomfortable I have seen. Maybe the Aleutian Islands in Alaska come close.
yes it is a good area. You never tried woodland caribou there? I have hunted ptarmigan in there with my bird dogs . Worst chicken I have ever eaten was at Peter Strides
Thank you Tgood1. Yes the tuckamore can be harsh.
I would rather deal with the tuckamore than our weather though.
Where have you hunted here on the rock?
There are two that I would like , one is a 6.5 x 55 and the other is a 404 Jeffery. I may get the 6.5 soon but will wait until my first trip to Africa before the 2nd
Thanks for the welcome.
Oh I have hunted moose and caribou many times. I live for moose hunting. I have taken most of my moose with a Winchester model 70 30-06. I have taken a few with a Marlin 30/30 and a Lee Enfield 303 British as well. Last was with a 375 H &H, Winchester Safari Express...
I love to hunt with iron sights . Most of my rifles have iron and aperture sights and I try to get closer. I have a scoped 30-06 and 223 but many more rifles with open sights. I also like to hunt with a longbow. Bear season opens here shortly and I will be hunting with my fathers old Marlin...
No I have no experience with any of the outfitters here on the island because as a resident I don't need one to hunt. Our moose are your deer in Nova Scotia. I generally draw a moose licence every second year. Bear licences are available over the counter and you are allowed 2 bear on a licence...
I love the 375 h&H, I have used it here in Newfoundland on moose certainly dont need it for moose but love using it. I find absolutely no difference with 'moose hunting with the 375 H&H compared with the 30/06 except for the weight of the rifle. Recoil is a non issue. It has however whetted my...
It depends upon what you would like to do. Our weather is pretty rugged except for early- mid July through August. Fire away with any questions you may have. I would only be pleased to help in any way i can with information.
Hi I have been back and forth for quite a few years now. I live on the east coast of Canada on an island called Newfoundland, a great spot for moose ,caribou and small game hunting. Love hunting and training and running birds dogs. Always had an interest in hunting Africa. I think it is high...
I guess with me it started with Outdoor life and Field and Stream articles I read as a child who had absolutely no interest in anything but the outdoors. I have always loves hunting and anything to do with the wild. Must be in my DNA.
I have not yet been to Africa but hope to. I am still not...
