Yep. Availability of the larger English calibers is much of a muchness there in Oz. Not exactly common in your average gunshop. And the price difference between the standard 550 magnum and the 550 Safari Magnum didn't help either. That combined with the importer not accepting special orders...
I was given some when I bought the 470 Capstick I owned and then lucked onto another box of 50 at the local gunshop. You are right, I haven't seen it in a while, but you might get lucky.
I just used Hornady Basic magnum brass, one pass through the CH4D 470 Capstick dies and it was good to go. However there should be no reason you couldn't use Lott brass.
Best of luck with it.
Yes it was. There were some really ridiculous offers for it, well under his reasonable asking price given what it had cost him to have built. But it had done its Africa trip with him and he wants another double, this time in 375 flanged.
I'm waiting to see what he wants for his 450/400...
Well, this recently found its way into my safe.
A nice 404 Jeffery takedown on a M98 action by Rob Blomfield at Sunshine Coast Gunsmithing. Now to work up a 400gr SN load and take it hunting.
G'day All.
Dave here, long time hunter in this part of the world.
Been reading this site for a while now at the suggestion of friends, finally took the plunge and signed up.
Looking forward to chatting and learning more about hunting on a different continent.
Cheers.
