Best people to ask are barrel makers
Most here supply break in procedure with barrel
As a side note the way a barrel is made will determine the run in
Ie
Hammer forged vs cut rifle etc etc
Hand lapped vs not
Had one for ages
Rifles are very light
Spent a crap load of time on it
Fitted mercy reducer
1 3/8” Kickeez Magnum pad
Stock wedge to correct angle and eliminate getting whacked in cheek
Stock spacer to achieve suitable LOP
Recheckered for improved grip
Lengthened Throat to seat the...
Bloody love the little 458 WM
Simple and does the job with no fuss
As with these cartridges, reloading is the key
I load the 550grn Woodleigh RN and 78grn of 2208/Varget
MV 2070
Taken some cracker Bulls at 203m, 268m and my biggest at 25m
Don’t underestimate the cartridge ability
Ruger RSMs are the pick of the bunch in the Ruger Big Bores
Rare to see them for sale as most lads take them to grave
Below is not written to scare you but more for info transfer and make lads aware.
I’ve never seen a fired RSM that didn’t have an issue
Few things to consider
Being a...
338 Campfire ( 338-375 Ruger ) would be a cracker in that action
I'd definitely put some dummy rounds in the action and test cycle them to see what you have
Lee crimp Dies are awesome
I use heaps of them and esp when seating outside of the projectile cannelure
The roll crimp element in the stand seat and crimp die is easy to set up as long as you follow directions
Pays not to listen to rumour
Woodleigh are a small family run business, when we visited them the crew was 3-4
As a black trady, it was an amazing set up to see, all the WW machines for proj manufacturing are intriguing
Pays to do this with every rifle
few years ago I was warned to future proof myself, so I proceeded to grab at least 4-6 boxes of everything
I've been telling everybody who will listen to do same since
200 loaded and 200 as min on hand is good
The 333s are rare but I managed to grad a heap...
RCBS are great Dies
The seat and crimp die is a roll crimp set up
All 7/8 dies in 416 Rigby are similar, they crimp the same and set up the same
Simplex is good and so is Lyman
Don’t think anyone make poor Dies currently
Gday
I to load the 550 RN in my 458 WM
78grn of 2208/Varget for 2070
Took my biggest Bull at 15m and few others
Another at 203m and 268m
I’ll check the load fir my 458 Lott
I recall it was 82-84 of 08/Varget but I’ll check and be sure
It's not my place nor my business what Woodleigh do
I try not to call them for trivial crap as they have enough to do and if they are answering the 100 calls a day asking silly Qs they are not running the machines
Woodliegh is a small family business with lucky to be 4-5 people if that
The...
Gday
Guys I'm a rep for Woodleigh and the largest distributor of their products here in Oz
If you are chasing something in particular let me know and I'll do my best to source it for you
I have crap loads on hand and access to more easily via a network of Woodleigh fans
I said this all...
416 Remington Magnum would have to be the most versatile cartridge
Run the lighter projectiles for small game like rabbits and foxes then step it up to 400s and 450s for heavy game
Shoots as flat with a 400 as the 375HH does with the 300
And lighter to carry when compared to 375 HH...
Bloody love them
Oz made and easy to get
Basically a CNC turned Barnes
I did the field trials for the 458cal and found they are ridiculously accurate and work well on Buffalo here
The next trials are with the 470cal
Cameron from Atomic 29 made me some 550cal proj and some to try in my...
Gday,
5 or more years ago we were told this was coming and I passed this info onto everyone, including clients and customers, who would listen
I'm way in at the end of No Where and can get most components easily
Projectiles, powder, primers and cases easy as
May have to wait but all...
RCBS does not do custom Dies anymore
CH4 are way behind
Whidden is another option, they make excellent Dies. They made my 375-280 AI Dies
Hornady are great, they made my custom Dies in 411-08 Imp
I’ll get them to make a few 318 WR if it comes to that
None in Oz I can find at moment...
