Rigby sporter 275 - which is the one to go for?

I managed to latch onto on of the Ruger M77 Africans in 6.5X55. One of the classiest features of this rifle and the Rigbys is the tapered barrel. Always knew what I wanted but couldn't put it into words. Here is a picture of it. Yeah, mighty impressive.

Your info is well taken. However, I for one would not be inclined to purchase a 6.5X55 Swede, 6.5X.284 Norma, or a 7X57 to name a few with a true short action. Just one example, there is 0.245 from the C.O.A.L of the .260 Rem. To the 7X57. Why in the world would I want to give up a 1/4 inch...

I think that you have to remember that while the SST is an excellent choice, it will perform just like the Nosler Ballistic Tip. Nothing more accurate, but for big heavy game, my choice would be the 156gr Oryx. This is not a long distance caliber but I think out to 300 meters your spot on.

Ok men I know that this is kind of late but for those of you that may be interested in building your own special "Highland Stalker" in 275 Rigby, I have some news. Old Western Scrounger (OWS) has a large supply of 1916 Mausers in 7X57. These rifles have hand selected barrelled actions and the...

@Sandrat loads that 156 for his 7X57, I believe. You have a dandy rifle there shooter. Here's hoping that you have many enjoyable years with your new rifle. Oh, by the way, NECG will probably still be your go to source for folding leaf sights in the future.

Check out the NECG websight JPBowhunter. They have a nice rear sight that sits on the same type of base however it is adjustable for windage. The sight leaf resemble the old style multi-leaf sights but there is just one. The elevation is adjusted with two small screws on the one side. It...

I guess that is why I feel that this place is different, thank you @SEStoppleman, i said that AH is different because there are not a bunch of liberal lefties watch to jump on everything that is posted here. They are afraid of us because we shoot things.

Posting photos of dead wild animals could be illegal soon

I agree with you @ jpbowhunter. I will not watch hunting programs because if the camera angle isn't perfect, they won't take a shot. That's not hunting. These idiots that have to jump up and down and pump their fist, where is the respect for the animal. That's far from placing "The last...

Hey there 375 Ruger Fan, you may want to try the Hornady Superformance ammo branded 7X57. They have a 139gr SST load at 2740 fps. This load grouped sub-moa in my Savage. Also, if you can find some, they had a 139gr GMX load at the same velocity. Haven't tried the later, but it should be...

Brings to mind a video that I saw that took place in what I believe was a ballistics lab in some mid eastern country. It showed all of these skinny assed males(?) wearing typical white robes with their heads wrapped, shooting big rifles, probably over at least 400 caliber. They would pull the...

Earlier today, I saw a Ruger M 77 RSI Stainless Mannlicher in .275 Rigby on Guns America. It was new in box and the buy now price was $1800. This was one of those limited edition models. Doubt that it will get cheaper. Wish I could buy it myself:)

I too have a M98 33/40 Mauser with Venezuelan Crest. Everything has matching numbers, the bore is pristine. Doubt that it was ever put into service. My uncle paid $50 from a guy who had a store full of military rifles. My uncle really didn't think of the "real" value and he had a guy knock...

Sorry it's taken so long to respond. I misunderstood what you said, sorry about that. However, your rifle has been free floated the way I would want mine to be. It would stand to reason that Ruger would have bedded the recoil lug as well. Nothing has been done to my rifle period. The wood...
