The 338 Federal is a very nice bushveld round, that is if you use it with 200 to 250gr at 2300 to 2500fps.
If you want a 160gr bullet at 3000fps, are there not any other calibers that have a better reputation? The 6.5mm and 7mm come to mind.
Busy planning a meat hunt later in the year.
I've done nearly all my hunting with a 8x57, but age and thousands of shots caught up with the old rifle. I now have a 338 wm. Hope to get a 308 or 30-06 soon. Just something that is a little cheaper to feed.
