    The joys of camping

I had been hunting pigs in November in North Queensland and the wet season came early so after 2 days of rain I tried to escape. I had to winch out of bogs 3 times, not fun whenits over 40 degrees C!.

    Aussie big boar hunting

I shot this big boar off a wild brumby bait with my 25/06. He ran 30 metres and dropped, I walked over and gave him a kick and he was gone, I grabbed his foot and tail to drag him to a spot for a photo and he suddenly came back to life. I hung on tight to the tail and foot as he tried to turn on...

    A couple of Wildebeest

A couple of wildebeest and zebra 'shot' while on the Serengeti. I have had this photo made into a sepia canvas print and it looks great on the trophy room wall. I keep a small original photo handy as most people think its a painting not a photo. This herd was nearly 5 kilometres long!.

  12. Blesbok

    Blesbok

Blesbok shot on the last afternoon of safari, it was the first animal seen, I didn't want to shoot in case there was something bigger but after checking its 100 or so friends he was still the best. Ended up using the guides 9.3x62 and it took two solid chest shots, a very tough animal.
  13. Zebra

    Zebra

This Zebra nearly killed me, I have never run so far in my life. After running for over 2 kilometers the guide says shoot, from 300 meters with the zebra standing facing me it was a clean miss with a heart rate of what felt like 1500. Next chance I had there were 3 zebra running past us. The...
  14. Kudu

    Kudu

We hunted Kudu on a large property and passed up a couple around 50". I was hoping for something special, saw a monster wide bull high 50's but he knew the score and disappeared in the high scrub. We finally saw a group of three and then lost them again, two were good bulls and one was...
  15. Bushbuck

    Bushbuck

I hunted for a couple of days in the rain looking for a good buck, they had the good sense to lay low in the bad weather. As the sun came out in the early afternoon this buck was spotted in waist deep grass coming out to feed and shot from 180 meters across a gully. He only ran 20 meters and...
  16. Gemsbok

    Gemsbok

I hunted Gemsbok in the Karoo area on a large unfenced property, hard hunting and very hilly. We found this old fellow on top of a mountain with an old cow. Shot from 150 meters he ran 70 meters and bled out. His teeth were worn down to the gums and the property owner said he was the biggest...

  18. Black Wildebeest

    Black Wildebeest

When we first saw this guy he was too far away to assess his trophy value, after a long walk to get the wind right we could only get to a small bush 250 meters from him, it was all open from then on so the small shooting sticks came out and an angling shot from the 30/06 passed cleaned through...
  19. Impala

    Impala

Impala shot on first rainy day of safari, missed a bigger one earlier to 'I cant believe I am really in Africa' nerves. Shot from 220 meters with a 30/06.

    Hunting East Cape Bushbuck

I agree with the above, I shot mine in waist high grass and it disappeared, the guide was swinging his 8x68 around at anything that moved, I felt like we were tracking a wounded lion!. I thought he was joking about how dangerous they are until I saw their fox terrier they use for tracking, it...

    Hello Africa addicts

Yes I would love to go back again to travel and to hunt, Africa has 50 countries I have only seen part of 5. South Africa was mostly very civilised and Cape Town especially reminded me of Australian cities, yes I love the 'wild Africa' much more. My wife isn't keen on the idea after our couple...
