    Do rifles have souls?

No more a storage for memories. When you look at a gun you've had you think fondly of what you've done with it.

    Open sight hunters

One option that gives the spacial awareness of irons and the accuracy of a scope is having a long eye relief scope. Gives you your peripheral vision back while still giving you the magnification and sight picture of a scope. This is what I use on my ruger scout.

    Breaking: Renewables Are Not Good

Idk how much you guys know about engineering but I can tell you solar and wind are probably the WORST options we have right now for energy (and damn are those windmills butt ugly) wave power, nucelar, and fusion energy, supplemented with solar for smaller needs is my prediction for the future.

    Breaking: Renewables Are Not Good

I'm in college as an engineer and I was always taught to try and fix problems no matter how hard. If we get stuck in our ways with fossils fuels we will eventually die out we need to progress to new forms of energy. Many may fail or be bad but we have to make those mistakes to progress.

Can someone explain the appeal of cigars

I've done practically every variation of smoking there is but one that I just never got was smoking cigars. Why would one risk oral cancer when you don't even or rarely get any "buzz". I've been given a few cigars when hanging with family members I have no idea what kind but besides the taste...

    Future of Ammo

How do you think rounds will progress with new advancements in telescoped and telescoped caseless ammo do you think these will have any use outside of the military. Im thinking self defense but for hunting where you arent carrying so many rounds that there weight is as much of a factor im having...

    Would you like a Cigar?

I think it’s the age difference I’m 18 and everyone else is much older here but this probably sounds stupid but all my friends want as the “premium” cigars are swisher sweets because they are the best cigars for rolling blunts. All these your talking about are way to good for that purpose lol...

    North Americas Big Five

I think it should be the animal thats the danger part not its environment. I also think you guys are right in terms of the animal being an icon as danger isn't everything. If it was the whitetail would be number 1 as it kills the most people per year in NA and the mosquito would easily top any...

    North Americas Big Five

Only thing is is I'm not sure about bison. They seem so dangerous to people but all the hunting videos are the equivalent of shooting cattle.

    North Americas Big Five

I've seen this debated before but most people seem to leave out the fact that Africa's big five was done by choosing the hardest and most dangerous animals to HUNT. Personal this would be my list and I'm curious to see yours. Grizzly Polar Bear Cougar Bison having a really tough time with this...

How to get someone into hunting

I've never really had anyone to hunt with ever since I started and now that my brothers moving away for a job there actually isn't anyone I know to even hunt with which really only leaves me with getting someone into it. Best option is my best friend who has the right qualities for a hunting but...

    Bucket list birds

Luckily i'm in Florida so I already have some the hardest ones under my belt; fulvous whistling ducks, black bellied whistling duck, and mottled duck. Alaska definitely has the hardest ones to get to and actually kill. Can't wait to go there for moose and waterfowl some day.

    Bucket list birds

    1. Harlequin 2. Cinnamon Teal 3. King Eider 4. Red Grouse 5. Brant and Gizmo I do agree wood ducks are beautiful I just get them often enough to not call it a bucket list bird although it is a treat for the eyes and mouth when you do get one.

    Cinnamon Teal

Cinnamon teal is one of my top bucket list ducks. I think they look better than almost all other ducks besides my personal favorite the harlequin. It hurt to pass salt lake when I went to Yellowstone last summer knowing to get a cinnamon I would probably have to go back there at some point.

    Crazy Bullet Design Idea

Also these extreme expanding rounds have trouble going though clothes and certainly would work against bone. Copper petals also have the tendency to break off when shot.

    Crazy Bullet Design Idea

Creating a revolutionary small arms round is very hard to do but African cartridges actually could be a great platform as they are larger so you can put more stuff into it. Biggest problem is you probably can't use explosive rounds for hunting like the raufoss round, mini heat round, or some...

    Crazy Bullet Design Idea

I don't really get what you are trying to say here but I think your idea is like the military duplex round from the 80s that never left the prototype stage do to bad accuracy.

    Some knives I made lately

Wow these are spectacular. I've been trying to get into forging lately but just don't have the tools needed and my forge looks like its from mad max always seem to melt my steel in it, best I've done was just cutting out the shape then heat treating it. Hope to get to this level some day.

Wonderful some day I hope to have the pleasure of being your client. By the way didn't want to make a new thread but the cost of a rug mounted mountain lion is $150,095.00 on your price brochure, I hope it comes with 7 pounds of gold!

Looking for a Gator/Hog combo hunt

I never use outfitters as a local but lower St. Johns river has amazing gator hunting I've seen 50 gators on a 3 hour hike on public land before down there. Hogs are freakin everywhere I think some outfitters will even let you hunt them for free as they are a nuisance animal although north...

    Future of Big Five Hunting

Trust me I'm trying, I'm saving up as much money as I can for a hunt but walking dogs isn't going to get me far in paying for an African hunt, sitting on 7 grand some are in stocks, silver, gold etc. but I'm not willing to blow it all away. Going to college at 18 hopefully becoming a petroleum...

    Future of Big Five Hunting

I'm quite young and have several years to go before I can even start earning a paycheck and looking at populations of the big five and anti-hunting laws I'm worried I may never be able to take any of the big 5 except maybe buffalo. What do you guys think the future of big five hunting is, will...

Upscale Safari - Does it Exist?

Most outfitters I've seen on this sight have places as good and a lot better then most houses I've seen. Not sure about wifi or TV but if luxuries your deal I've seen plenty of it all over this site.

To be honest I kind of get that. Having US personnel there I feel most would be ok with, but imagine driving past a dedicated Austrian air force base in Kansas. That would certainly spark up some anger.

    Hawaii hunts?

Well it will probably be unique to say the least not very many places where you can hunt in the jungle with the ocean nearby. Also a hell of a lot warmer hunting season than most of the US. Lion Charge... Come Back & See More As I Add Them To The Thread!

Great mount love the fine details like how the ribs are protruding on the side its bending away from but not the side the the body is going. One question that I have no clue the answer to is do lion's eyes dilate while hunting/charging I know when my cat gets riled up her pupils are huge...

    Little thought of packing items

One pair of clothes I would suggest bringing extra of is a good pair of socks in my experience they get wet and sweaty you cant use them for awhile or they get sandy if its on the inside you might as well just throw them out. A good pair of socks can prevent blisters (bring moleskin though just...

    Alaskan hunting laws

They are selling because they have a total monopoly on brown bear hunts in Alaska. Its like saying that since joe smoes shop is the only place around that sells milk but charges 20$ a gallon for it people with money will still buy it because they like it and have the money for it. When Irma came...

    Alaskan hunting laws

Wow Mekaniks I've only ever seen sandhill cranes in the southern most parts of Florida and they are there all year round so I didn't even know they were migratory especially all the way up to Alaska. Alaskan hunting laws

While I don't doubt guides are very helpful I feel that meeting the right local could do just as much, I just have a hard time seeing the justification of the prices. Alaskan hunting laws

Of course this has to happen to me. So now I can't legally hunt in this damn state when I'm in college unless I use bow or I drive 3 hours back to my parents house. Do they really expect me to go out with a bow and kill ducks (possible but impractical and surprisingly legal). This is the first...
