It's a good option for a one gun safari, I took my 416 Rigby to Mozambique for Buffalo and plains game, 400g swift aframes did it all, warthog, nyaka and buff. For a dedicated plains game safari I'd look at 350g Aframes.

I have a factory 1972 Brno in 416 Rigby, double square bridge with peep, with all matching numbers. It was around this time I believe Rigby was using the brno action for there big game rifles. The rifle you have may well be one of the barreled actions Rigby used at the time.

I would go for the Aframe, as you're chasing buffalo, the oryx would be fine for heavy plains game but Buffalo, even cow is in the heavy skinned game. I am in a similar position with a plans game hunt next year in Botswana, where I will be after Eland ,kudu oryx, I have been considering the...

Norma factory 416 Rigby loaded with 400g swift aframe

I should have taken this load to Mozambique August past, but used Norma factory 416 Rigby loaded with 400g swift aframe, worked out well as I shot Buffalo, Nyala and warthog with this load, it worked very well as a one gun safari.

I shoot a zkk602 in 416 Rigby, load is 450g woodleigh, 90g ADI2209, for 2260fps. I will use this on my next buffalo.

416 Rigby 400g swift aframe out of a waterbuck, muzzel velocity 2327fps, this is from Norma factory load. 395.5gr retained weight.

1972 zkk602 in 416 Rigby, shot Buffalo a beuty Nyala and warthog in Mozambique August 22, and a mate took a great waterbuck with the rifle also. The load was Norma 400g swift aframe. Worked perfectly.

They will work fine, I have seen two buffalo shot with the 416 Rem and 400NP in Mozambique this August, they worked well, retained weight was 367grn. I shot a Buffalo with My 416 Rigby and swift Aframes, retained weight 395.7grn. Both will work, swifts are just better.

I can also recommend ZDS, just back from 11 days there and it's just an amazing place to hunt, I took buffalo, a fantastic Nyala and great warthog. We were over the full moon, so Nyala were a little slow apparently, probably seen 15 over 27 28, inch and took a wonderful one around 30.

Allan Carr here in Newzealand done the recent work.the stock has been bedded and pillars installed prior to me obtaining the rifle 5 or 6 yrs ago. Just back from Mozambique in the last two weeks and the rifle performed perfectly, a nice buffalo, great Nyala and the above pig, 400grn swift...

I have added a 3 position style safty and changes to a lower rear express sight. A polish of the action and the rifle function is perfect and it fits me like a glove. Cal 416 Rigby

Hi DmacD, I'll have to put a report in, only been back in Newzealand for a week and a half. But zambizi delta safaris exceeded all expectations. The place and people are first class.
