Bertram Brass I have used in 470 Nitro and 318 Westley Richards with no problems, I believe Kynoch in the UK use his brass also.

Your pretty quick on the BS, I researched this a bit seems John Paul Mauser designed the 98 with thumb cut for stripper clip loading but ALSO to vent gas in case of case rupture but when the Magnum Mauser was made by Mauser for Rigby, which do not use stripper clips, the thumb cut was retained...

I am getting some quotes on a new Rigby in 416 Rigby but in left Hand but I notice you can have the thumb cut out or have solid side , Which is better? Does it Matter? I am leaning to solid side as thumb cut out was left over design for stripper clips but I don't think these existed in 416 Rigby...

forgot to say yes the Ruger in 450/400 has a bit of recoil but not enough to put me off with open sights , I am just really sighting in now, coke can at 25 yards no problem but can not hit those Beer cans!
