    350 Rigby Magnum

Thinking along those lines will have me with only my 338! It will duplicate and do what both the Whelen and 350 can do, thank goodness my wife doesn’t know this.... it’s one of those really cool useful cartridges and of all the 35’s is the one that interests me the most... something different...

    Vektor barrel?

    350 Rigby Magnum

I have a sickness for odd calibers Sako ... realised I need at least one "off the shelf" caliber and the 338WM does all my bigger and longer range stuff. 6.5x55 vermin and medium game and my 450/400 double is almost paid for(y) No doubt the 9.3's are excellent ... if I ever get one it will be a...

    Ballistic Tips

there is some good info on the Nosler forum ... apparently the later BT's are tougher than the first ones ... apparently the lighter for cal projectiles retain the same jacket thickness than the heavy weights in same cal, for the better .... apparently most of the changes was in the bigger cal's...

    Ballistic Tips

Shootist 43 is spot on Doc, Nathan’s “on game” experience is as good as it gets. I was also considering the BT for my Swede but concerned: If a quick expanding pill hits bone at longer range you could have trouble with decent penetration. From field shooting positions, aiming to slip one past...

    Tika T3 6.55 x 55

Excellent choice!! I had a Tikka in 6.5x55: Projectiles: Partition and SST’s , stick to 140g Case capacity: believe it or not is greater than the Creedmore Tapered case: easier extraction with stiff loads Penetration: exceptional Game: stick to deer/ medium antelope size under 300m unless your a...

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

Interestingly Craig Bodington in his book “American Hunting Rifles” showed that most push feeds work perfectly upside down. I know a gunsmith with a lot of dazzle who told me that to ensure the CRF starts with the cartridge being captured by the extractor and therefore is attached to the bolt...

    350 Rigby Magnum

Thanks Shawn, my thinking is along the lines of a more traditional action, Winchester or k98, even Montana which comes in left hand is ideal. The 350 just doesn’t seem right in a 700! My thoughts originally is also to stick with a traditional load.. not needing to hot rod this one since my...

    350 Rigby Magnum

Sat up in bed one Saterday morning with a jolt.. thinking: Porker your an absolute genius! Why not convert a 35 Whelen to 350 Rigby by cleaning up the chamber of the Whelen? If that’s possible, only thing to consider is if you can squeeze the 350 into a standard action. Any thoughts?

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

Hitman, you have to be nice to me.. I’m new here! Sorry for late reply, I’m not always near civilisation. To clarify and hopefully not detract from your excellent find... Ruger has never marketed the Hawkeye as being CRF, only stating it has CRF extraction. Considerable work goes into making...

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

So... Ruger uses the terminology “ controlled round feed extractor” .. very clever, that big claw looks the part... look at the bolt faces of the 275 lipseys and your hawkeye. .. also feed a round from both and stop the feed before the bolt head disappears, pull the bolt back and see if the case...

New Ruger African in .275 Rigby

On a different note ... apparently the Lipseys exclusive is controlled round feed? Like the old Mark IIs, unlike the current Hawkeye's. Can you confirm this Hitman? That alone would fire my jets on this sweet little rifle.

    Hi From South Australia

Thanks RW, awesome kudu in your avatar ... yes, there is a few fox whistles made here that work a treat ... I had limited success in Western Australia using a "cocky in distress" CD due to not being subtle and playing it continuous .. the whistle will be the next option ...
