I don't think you can get all in one place on a single safari, most can be taken together in the same country but not all, take for example the Dik-Dik is in Namibia but they don't have the red Forrest Duiker. Now if you want to take one trip that hits more than one country. (South Africa...
Very nice Dennis, I've got a hunt in 2016 for an Oribi and Grysbok, after that it's onto the Red Duiker and Suni. Nice to see what great mounts in these species look like.
Thanks!
Ok let's lay this out in a little easier. Let's call Africa point "a" let's call NY point "b" and let's call your home point "c", will call oxi company "x" let's call your personal custom brokers and freight forwarder company "y" you ask company "x" to ship you trophies from point "a" to point...
If he would have used oxi's custom broker it would have been, but he chose a different company, now doing that JR would you assume they would also insure this different company or do you think you would need insurance through them as well. I mean it sucks that it happened, but you and I both...
You chose your own custom broker to freight forward from NY to your home, this company damaged you items and is not affiliated with oxi, why would oxi or in this case highveld be responsible. Who is the company you used to ship it from NY to your home? And in my eyes why are you holding them...
I'm sorry I'm not seeing your point. Your saying that oxi should have covered shipping insurance for your personnel custom broker that's not affiliated with them? Why would they?
Just a question, but is it my understanding that trophies made it to the USA with 0 problems and from that point, your custom broker took possession and shipped from from entry point from USA to your house?
Glad to hear Peiter and his team took such great care of you. Congrats on the big kudu, he has some great mountain properties that can really make you work for it. I hunted last year with my friends there and that's where I hunted my Klippspringer and my buddy shot a nice 54" kudu. We took tons...
Bill, I have always enjoyed your post and loyalty and wish you and your son a great trip. I can't wait until my son who is 8 to be old enough to come to Africa with me. Enjoy each day while your there with your son.
Agree with brick on guns will be safe, the only issue is a good case, have seen a couple guys with broken rifles. What caliber of rifles are you taking? There's a good chance your outfitter might have back up ammo on hand in case luggage is delayed, probably have a good camp rifle as well. Don't...
I have been there in September for 2 of my trips and it's a perfect time for weather and for the vegetation to be not as think. Now saying that last September we came over and a huge cold front came through and it was freezing and I was not prepared for the cold mornings but by afternoon it was...
Very interesting and informative topic, let me ask this as I would love to hear from some of you who have hunted lions. I noticed on the the vital area of a lion, that the lungs and heart are not as far forward as a typical african species, so my question if you have a broadside shot on a lion...
Yeah all this showmanship to earn top awards is now a big pissing match between these guys and being played out on a national scale , which is really going to undermine all the good things this organization has done for the hunting industry. No one will come out a winner in this.
For those of you going to the SCI convention, I'm am just learning of this news and maybe those that are going can get more info on this. I am posting a letter below from Dr. Larry Rudolph and his website of www.reformsafariclub.com
Safari Club International Board of Directors c/o Ronald J...
Seems to me the vitals are a little farther back then let say a leopard. I would like if anyone has more picture to share on this topic like the leopard page please post as it seems there are a few lion hunts now available and I would love to learn more.
Thanks!
Thanks Paul, it's getting pretty hard to find in the states, left 3 boxes with a friend in Africa because I wasn't planning on being back this year, but things happen and now it's time to start scrambling.
Check out crusader safaris, they do free range no fence hunts in RSA, I have not hunted with them myself but have heard nothing but good things about them. I know they do some buffalo hunts in the greater Kruger conservatory. It's pricey but it's exactly what your looking for.
Looks great, our local cabelas (Omaha) Africa section is not the best in quality and seems pretty much old mounts. I really like the sable mount, very nice work.
Wes, I'll be going in the middle of October for a hunt and will be staying at Afton house probably the 14th or 15th, if your around the same time, I would love to buy you a drink and meet a fellow AH member.
Not many for me as most of my trips have been with someone I know, but looking to head into the dangerous game hunts soon, and my biggest wish is for a buffalo, with that said all my time on forums have lead me 2 choices, as I have been watching for years and fill confident I will be in good...
Sorry to post on your thread and mean no disrespect to you but I though the new rules for captive lion hunts in SA, required a minimum of 7 hunting days for package deal. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks!
Congrats on your trip, sounds like your going to have a great trip. As far as Burris optics go, there ok, but there is many more companies that far exceed them, but as they are a sponsor not sure you have much choice. Can you tell us more details of your trip or post a trip report when finished.
