Best watch in the 1000$ range?

Doxa, IMO hands down the best value in the watch world. Here is a great example: https://doxawatches.com/collections/sub-1500t/products/sub-1500t-whitepearl?variant=41668300112050

.270 for plains game? Should I be scrapping it?

I wouldn't even think twice about it, hunt with the rifle you have. Using a good bullet is always the right answer, not just to the OP's question about a .270, we would all say the same damn thing if he asked about any other chambering. Just use a good bullet, shoot it in the proper place...

    NRA wayne La pierre

For the past 20+ years I worked in state legislatures all over the country and on the Hill, I have never once in all that time seen a GOA lobbyist working in any of those settings. .223 for Steinbok, Duiker, Klipspringer?

If I were talking my 223 bolt rifle to Africa for hunting any of what the OP mentioned, I would use a 62gr TSX. Now, if I was just hunting PG and hoping to find one of those three while I was out hunting, that isn't the route I would go, but if those three are what is wife his after, that is the...

    .223 for Steinbok, Duiker, Klipspringer?

@Red Leg needs no help in this conversation, but I have used 55gr ball on coyotes and hogs. it works without question. There are better options, but they are just icing on a cake.

Does the perfect fixed blade for Africa exist? Whether it does or not, what should it look like?

@Red Leg wrote it out very well. I can't imagine going in the field without a fixed blade knife, and I would rather have a bit extra blade to work with than one a bit too short. Here is the knife I have carried on my last few trips, I had Gary work up the blade shape for me. It is a great...

I carry a knife on a safari because I carry a knife every other place I go. Besides for cutting things, it is a hell of a lot better than a rolled up magazine if I need it for social work. I carry something pretty close to what @Red Leg posted, I just had Gary give it a bit more of a upward...

Anyone mount a rmr on there scope

Nope, you are right. See if your guy can maybe order a mount that goes on the scope but is also offset? I know they make them, that might help mitigate some of the issues. Something like this maybe: https://reptiliacorp.com/product/rof-sar-34mm-for-leupold-delta-point-pro/
  35. YancyW

Anyone mount a rmr on there scope

You will have to go forward enough to clear it all. Normally, I want them as far back as I can, that would be on a gas gun, but that isn't going to work on a bolt gun. But I really think even being further forward than you normally want is going to be better than a piggyback setup.
  36. YancyW

Anyone mount a rmr on there scope

With a 50mm scope, you are going to have a crazy offset if you piggyback it. Even on an ACOG, the top mounted RMR wasn't much to use to me. You will have to break your cheek weld to even see though it, you will have to calculate the offset and then you are shooting a 300wm with you head off the...

Anyone mount a rmr on there scope

Do you have pic rail that the scope is mounted on? If so, an offset mount off the rail is far better than an side mount off a scope. I have tried every combination I could imagine, the offset mounted directly to the pic rail has worked best for me. This is the one I have settled on using...
