    Who reloads.....and why?

It's fun, I'm able to shoot more (mainly pistol, but enjoy toying with my rifles as well), I learn a lot about the cartridge I'm reloading (history, uses etc), and I do think in the long run I save money.

    Elk Hunting Outfitter/Guide/Blog Advice

Thank you to everybody so far who has chimed in! And yes, if there is an elk guide who is a sponsor here I'd happily check them out.

    Elk Hunting Outfitter/Guide/Blog Advice

@Uintaelkhunter I'm quite ok with an average bull. Obviously wouldn't shy away from a big bull. Not interested in shooting a spike. As for drop camp vs fully guided. Would most likely go with a fully guided hunt the first time and then would feel more comfortable being in a drop camp...

    Elk Hunting Outfitter/Guide/Blog Advice

@LivingTheDream Good question. I suppose I would answer by saying it would be a once in a lifetime thing that I would end up doing again! I don't see it being an annual pilgrimage but I would like to elk hunt once every few years. I also don't need to be pampered. Just looking for a good...

    Elk Hunting Outfitter/Guide/Blog Advice

I hope this note reaches anybody who is reading it in good health. I'm continuously impressed with the wealth of knowledge I find on this site and figured I would throw an elk question out to everybody. I've not had opportunity to elk hunt.....yet....and recently started looking at different...

    Greetings from Maine

The weather should be PERFECT for your hunt. The butcher I use tells me that he is already getting nice bear in. Should be a great time for you and your daughter. Enjoy the fresh air!

    Greetings from Maine

Thanks for the advice. To be more specific the "moose 280" is a borrowed rifle. If I did own one, however, I'd look past the .284 diameter and into the .30's. Toyed with the idea of a 35 whelen too. Man, guns are just plain fun. Yeah, Maine is a beautiful state. Funny you mention Bar...

    Greetings from Maine

I'd love to post about my most recent moose hunt and will do so once I'm at a place where I can upload a few pictures. My favorite rifle is my Remington 700 in .260 Remington caliber. Although I use a Rem 700 in .280 for moose. Recently though, I've toyed with the idea of picking up a 7mm rem...

    Greetings from Maine

Thanks! A buddy of mine has hunted bear with Eastern Ridge Adventures for the past few years and can't say enough good things about them. You probably already know this but Maine is LOADED with black bear. Wildlife department is toying with the idea of allowing two bears per hunter in the not...

    Greetings from Maine

Glad to hear it! I'm also glad to hear you refer to grouse as grouse and not partridge. Of course by doing so you reveal that you are "from away". Jackman area is great for birds. I'm looking forward to spending some time this October near Oquossic/Mooselook for birds. Yeah, I'm sure my...

    Greetings from Maine

I'm thinking South Africa and plains game (kudu, wildebeest, bontebok, blesbok etc). I've poked around looking at various hunting opportunities and am too novice to be able to spot a good deal aka real deal vs. a too good to be true scam.
