It's fun, I'm able to shoot more (mainly pistol, but enjoy toying with my rifles as well), I learn a lot about the cartridge I'm reloading (history, uses etc), and I do think in the long run I save money.

@Uintaelkhunter I'm quite ok with an average bull. Obviously wouldn't shy away from a big bull. Not interested in shooting a spike. As for drop camp vs fully guided. Would most likely go with a fully guided hunt the first time and then would feel more comfortable being in a drop camp...

The weather should be PERFECT for your hunt. The butcher I use tells me that he is already getting nice bear in. Should be a great time for you and your daughter. Enjoy the fresh air!

Thanks for the advice. To be more specific the "moose 280" is a borrowed rifle. If I did own one, however, I'd look past the .284 diameter and into the .30's. Toyed with the idea of a 35 whelen too. Man, guns are just plain fun. Yeah, Maine is a beautiful state. Funny you mention Bar...
