Any recommendations for hunting outfitters in Namibia?

There are many reputable outfitters in Namibia . You can narrow down your search based on what animals you want to pursue. I have hunted for plains game with Kowas Safaris for 3 years and am planning on going back in 2021 for a cull hunt. Obviously I would recommend checking them out. If you...

How to choose your next Plains Game safari?

Just thought I would add my 2 cents to this conversation. I went on my first safari in 2011. During my initial research, I started with looking at 3 things. First, I wanted to hunt on a property that had the target species I was after to avoid having to spend part of my day traveling to a...

Obviously a lot of you don't live in Pennsylvania . The state liquor stores are closed. Thankfully I stocked up on gin while I was in new Hampshire a few weeks ago Thankfully there is no shortage of tonic water Cheers

COVID-19 Coronavirus UPDATES, BANS, CLOSURES, ADVISORY, etc.

Looking at numbers of cases alone, in my mind, does not tell the whole story. If my math is wrong, which it might be, that figure is .29% of the population of the USA. Italy's number is 1.4%, Spain 1.6% and Germany is .6% of their population. Not including China, these are the countries with...

    WANTED: Namibia Hunt

I would also suggest looking at Kowas. I hunted with them in 2011, 2017, and booked a hunt for 2021. I liked that your group were the only people in camp. The quality of game, accommodations, and food are second to none. They are well organized and make you feel at home during your stay. If you...

    Condition of trophies

Can't agree more with not painting them black. I had euro mounts done on two different trips. The first taxidermist painted my horns and I was not happy. On my second trip, I was explicit about not painting the horns and they look a lot more natural. Any suggestions on how to get the paint off...

    One Animal?

If anybody tells you zebra are easy to hunt they probably never hunted them. I have had the pleasure of going on four safaris and with the exception of kudu, I found them very difficult to hunt. Good hunting

How do/did you pick your hunting outfitter?

Enjoy the planning process. I will be heading on my third safari next year. For what it's worth I looked for a few things in particular. Number one for me was a small outfitter where your group was the only one in camp. I have hunted numerous times out west and have shared camp with some great...

Leaving Nashville TN for Namibia and KOWAS on Monday April 29th !

You will have a great time at Kowas. Everything there is first class. I hunted at Kowas in 2011, 2017, and will be heading there again in 2020. My 2017 trip is in the hunting report section if you are interested in reading it. Good luck

    African food, game meats

While in Namibia my wife and I had the opportunity to eat a wide variety of game meat. With the exception of duiker, we both thought the food was delicious. I'm wondering if someone can answer a question I have concerning zebra. On my first trip, I shot a burchells zebra but the meat was never...

    Hunting Safari Shooting Preperation

Although by no means an expert, I shot exclusively off sticks on my three trips to Namibia. One tip I found that helped me was to load the sticks, meaning leaning into them a little bit. In addition to going to the range, I also set up a little target range at my house and shot five or six shots...

    Namibia flights

I took that flight in 2011 and 2017. I did the 5 hour layover in 2011 and the 2 hour layover in 2017. The 2 hour layover was tight even though the plane got into Jburg 45 minutes early. Good luck on your trip.

Hi Jim, welcome to the forum. I noticed you booked a hunt with Kowas. My wife and I hunted with the Strauss family in 2011, 2017, and will be heading back in 2021. In my opinion you made a great choice. They run a first class operation. I too am from Pennsylvania, about 50 miles north of...

Put Down The Kombucha & Pick Up A Crossbow: Hipsters Are The New Hunters

So markferrigno, your reply to this attempt to introduce new younger hunters to the sport is to be sarcastic. Hopefully I'm reading this wrong and you do support this effort. If not, that's sad.

I agree. What happened from Sept that the shipment was not made before the holiday season. Has your outfitter or shipper addressed that with Reiser. Would be interested in hearing their reply as I am also planning to return to Namibia in 2020

Reiser Taxidermy is making me very nervous

I hunted Namibia in October of 2017 and used Reiser taxidermy to do euro mounts for my trophies. I received them in July of 2018. During that time, Sven was usually quick to respond to my emails. The only stumbling point was similar to what you are experiencing. After being told my trophies were...

Great to see you got all your trophies back and intact. My crate is currently sitting at JFK. Hopefully customs, etc will not jerk me around too much and I will have my stuff home by the end of next week. Coppersmith is handling the logistics so I am confident they will sort things out

    Trophy / Taxidermy question

Hi Guy, I agree with thinking you should do what you want to do. I have been fortunate to hunt Namibia three times and plan on heading back again in 2021. For what it's worth, I have euro mounts and flat skins done as it is a lot cheaper than doing shoulder mounts. I also rationalize that the...

    NAMIBIA: Khomas Highland Hunting Safaris

Can anyone recommend a really good point and shoot camera for a safari

I purchased a Canon SX620HS for my trip to Namibia last October and it worked well for me. It has a 25 zoom with an image stabilizer that kept the pictures in focus. Have a great trip

    Trophy shipment question

I hunted Namibia in October and decided to have euro mounts and hides tanned over there. A little over 5 weeks ago I was notified that my trophies were ready for shipment and wired the money to the taxidermist for the freight cost. At this point my trophies have not shipped and I am being told...

Qatar Airways no longer able to accept firearms at London Heathrow

I hunted with Kowas last October, and due to an issue with Jet Blue's handling of my firearms, I decided to use one of Kowas rifles. They have a model 70 chambered in 300 Win Mag topped with a Leupold scope. Although I was apprehensive about using a borrowed gun, it worked out well for me. Good...

    Pick the right airline

For what it's worth, I would advise using a travel agent that specializes in dealing with hunters that travel to Africa. On my first safari, I used a travel agent and everything went smoothly. In October of last year, I decided I would take care of my travels to Namibia by myself. Big mistake...
