    Tipping Guide

Tips have existed for thousands of years. Don't blame the USA for inventing tipping. In general, Americans are generous, so are many other cultures. Not all however who can discuss "tips" endlessly and who are obssessed to fine tuning every cent to a ridiculous degree. The understanding of...

    .45 Super

I agree with the choice of powders. I'd personally stay away from hollowpoints and use instead 240 grains to 255 grains hard cast lead bullets for maximum penetration, either for reloading or commercial ammunition. Underwood and Buffalo Bore as well as a couple of others make very potent loads...

It's a great idea but moving a scope from one barrel to another requires adjustments every time. I have four barrels and each has a dedicated scope.

Yes, it does that in real life and there is nothing you can do about it. Shortening it would prevent you for affixing both rings of a scope. Its length covers the loading port. It can potentially interfere in a cartridge ejection and it certainly makes loading the magazine from the top...

The problem I experienced was with A Sig Sauer scope with blue tooth connected to a Kestrel. The package works amazingly well. I have four barrels, that scope is the only one that needed a bit of relief because of its involved system. It does work flawlessly at all ranges including extreme long...

Thank you, the only issue I had was with one particular scope and even with high mounts the base of the turret was barely allowing a sliver of light to pass. I solved the issue with two washers slim enough to allow the screws enough purchase to secure the scope. Thanks again.

    Transitioning To A Blaser R8 - A Two Months / 500 Rounds Review

Considering how much a firearm flexes upon firing, the space between scope turret and mount base is critical. I experienced the same thing you did even with high 30 mm rings. The solution was to add two washers to create space. It now works very well, however prior to the addition of the rings I...

Load Data For .375 H&H (P.O. Ackley Improved)

It is, you can use the Weatherby loads for it. I have a similar round of my own design, between the Weatherby and Ackley loads I achieved substantially faster speeds than in the original H&H. Because it becomes a straight walled case, it's important to not use absolute top loads for ease of...

Sorry, 15% is included as a tip in France. I'm well informed. Have family in France and I lived in France. You go to any restaurant and 15% is included as tip, NOT as tax. It is obligatory that it is included in the amount of the bill.

Tips of 15% are always included in France. To pay a tip in addition is discretionary and not often done in large amounts. It would be double tipping. 300 PRC for long range hunting cartridge?

I was also going to suggest the 300 Weatherby. I have shot one (several rifles) for close to fourty years, along with many other cartridges and calibers. Currently I shoot one to six hundred yards regularly, it's simply a terrific cartridge. I've shot it at 1000 yards very accurately as well. If...

    .458 Win or .448 Lot

They are both the same "caliber", just different cartridges. You can always have a gunsmith throat the 458 Winchester to a Lott, however the Winchester is a very potent round particularly with more recent propellents and bullets. They're both excellent. The Lott will recoil more because of its...

    Transitioning To A Blaser R8 - A Two Months / 500 Rounds Review

Since the barrels are the same diameter, you'll have a difference of around 5 to 7 ounces. 140 to 200 grams approximately at the muzzle. In my opinion, this is quite substantial. It may or may not affect your accuracy. If your interest is to lighten your rifle for long walks in potentially...

When showing off your new Elephant rifle goes wrong

When showing off your new Elephant rifle goes wrong

I was incredulous but then I calculated the recoil with one bullet and then with two, (You have to double the powder charge as well, not just the bullet weight), the results came to precisely 4 times the recoil of a single tube. So, you're absolutely correct !! Glad you weren't transposed into...

    .45 Super

I agree, it's excellent ammo but for handgun rounds it isn't that bad as far as sectional density is concerned. In the 10 mm, the highest SD is offered in the 220 grains hard cast, its equivalent in .45 would be a 280 grains bullet but the 255 grains .45 compensates with mass and in those loads...

    .45 Super

We're in total agreement. It's exactly why I carry a sidearm while hunting, camping or fishing which I no longer do much, I used to fly flish. The fact that a rifle is at times out of immediate range makes a sidearm invaluable regardless of its lesser power. Shoot what you have but at least have...

Alliant CFE Pistol and Hodgdon Power Pistol are two of the best powders for the 45 Super depending on bullet weight. Because that gun isn't generally ported, loads have to be somewhat conservative. A good source to load DOWN from is the 460 Rowland. The 460 Rowland is equipped with a very...

I tip anyway. There are times when guides do so much work and put so much effort that as far as the tip is concerned, I still feel they deserved it. It is personal but to me the effort is more important than the trophy. I'm not preaching to anyone. Just giving my views.
