I was able to play with a Sako Bavarian Carbine chambered in .270. I fell in love with the action and feel of the rifle as soon as I held it.

My cousin has the same rifle in Texas. That is usually what I use when I hunt with him there. First shot I made with it was very lucky, I shot a pig with it using an eotech.

Have you tried shooting the Merkel farther? I'm curious how it groups.

How is the weight of the Arctos Red Leg? I also like that rifle.

Hello Hello Cody. It is a Sako 375 H&H that was lent to me by Arthur Stone of Blackstone Safari's. It had a 1-4 power scope that was perfect for the hunting that I did. I also attached a bullet retrieved from the Kudu. I just do not know what bullet type it is but it performed superbly.

Hello AH. I have a rather amateurish question, sorry for my ignorance. When you talk about a 100lb elephant, I assume that means the weight of the tusks. But are we talking about 100lbs for both tusks or 50lbs each or 100lbs per tusk or 200lbs for both? Again, sorry for the ignorance.

255 yards with iron sights! That's a hell of a shot stug! I will be very happy if I can find a load for 250 gr Accubonds or Barnes TTSXs that will do 2500fps out of a 20 inch barrel. Saw that kudu video before, totally awesome!

They are IvW. I just need to make up my mind on what brand to invest in. It would really help if our friends with Sauer 404 Stutzen , Sako Bavarian Carbine and Merkel Helixes would chime in and lend a hand in helping me choose which one to get (n). Hehehehehe

I agree that the 22 inch will be ideal for the 9.3x62 rifle. I will consider getting this if I go with the Merkel.However, I am very partial to the Mannlicher stock. If I go either Sako or Sauer, the only Mannlicher stocked rifle they both have sports a 20 inch barrel. These are the rifles...

Merkel Helix! That was my original rifle of choice. I really loved the straight pull action. However, I was scared by the reviews I read in the net saying that it's accuracy is questionable. Do you have accuracy issues with your Merkel Helix? Should I go back to my original choice?
