I looked into aftermarket stocks, as I have McMillan stocks on almost of my rifles. The selection was very limited for lefties, unless you wanted to go custom. The time and money needed pushed me in the direction of painting the OE stock.

Looks good. LRI is a great company to deal with. I’ve had them work on a number of rifles and the work is always first rate. And, I’ve never seen a gunsmith communicate with clients as well as LRI.

I flew through Addis to J’burg with two rifles. On both the inbound and outbound layovers, I was escorted into the baggage handling area below the terminal so that they could inspect the rifles and my papers - specifically, they wanted to see licenses (which, in their view, the 4457 covered)...

I have a Ruger Alaskan Guide fun in .375 Ruger that came with a laminate stock. I like the feel of the stock, but want a big fan of the colors - so it ended up with a homemade paint job

There are a lot of variables that could influence someone’s choice and define the scope of your question: Production rifle, semi-custom, or custom? Best in terms of fit and finish (e.g., grade of wood and bluing), or utility? Accuracy? Value for dollar or money is not object?

This is a great hunt with great people. Erik is not kidding about being ready to hike some distance and elevation changes. I took my 15 year old son, loved every minute of the hunt, and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Justin put my boy on a great ram. Good luck to whoever grabs these hunts.

Interesting and frightening. I flew Ethiopian from Dulles to Jo’burg (and back) for a hunt a couple years ago. I was able to book two business class tickets with miles at a good rate. I was impressed with the flight, food, and service. Aside from being dragged into the bowels of the airport...

This is actually an easy one. Out of all of my rifles, my all time favorite is a .300 Win Mag built on a Borden Rimrock action, Bartlien #5 barrel, Jewel trigger, McMillan Gamescout stock and topped with a Swarovski 3.5-18.

+1 on Safari Speciality Importers. They cleared the trophies from two of my trips and were great to deal with.

My son and I hunted Aoudad with Erik last year. It was a fantastic hunt and, as mentioned above, very challenging. The property, accommodations, food, and the people are all first rate. Justin and Erik take great care of you. And the quality of the rams was outstanding.
