I would say the problem is hit or miss rifle to rifle. I do not see a problem in the action of the rifle I have, but it could be smoothed professionally, and improved. I can work the rifle rapidly without dysfunction at present. I will keep all informed as I run this thru the paces this spring.

Sounds like lucky you, I have a CZ in 458 Lott that I really like. I have a Win model 70 in 375 H&H that I love. I would save for what you want, and can get in either of these for a reasonable cost. Hunt around, take your time and you can get a decent 375 for around 1K.

In box ammo Hornady offers the DGS in 300gr for the 375 H&H, that would give a solid. I have used them in my Lott with good accuracy.

I would look online at all the data you could find on 1917 metallurgy for that rifle date. I did that prior to converting a Mauser 98, that I pegged to WWII, I converted it to 338-06 without issue, but there were some 98's I would have left alone due to metallurgy.

I would keep trying with the Barnes bullets, my model 70 is MOA with both 270gr, and 300gr. I could never get Nosler Partition to group well in my model 70, and have never tried A-Frames, but those Barnes bullets have great penetration, and weight retention. I believe Barnes bullets have been...
