1st Two mounts are done and home

D & S Taxidermy in Pasadena Tx did a fine job on my first two mounts taken last year with Limcroma Safaris in South Africa.

    Limcroma Wildebeest gif

A last minute opportunity, this Bull came in at last light and offered a perfect quartering away shot at 23 yards if I remember correctly.

Stalker decoy for spot and stalk in Africa?

This decoy velcro mounts to the front of your bow. Weighs only ounces. Looks very similar to a Kudu cow to me. Anyone ever heard of this being tried? I have seen it work on North American game but Africa might be whole different story. It could be worth a try. Thoughts?

Ace standard out of compound... WOW

This is on a cheap GT 55/75 shaft with blazer vanes. Total weight is 500gr even. It flies amazingly well! Even out to 60 yards. It really blows my mind that it is so accurate. Seems like it would plane like crazy. Must perfect spine for my bow and rest setup. This arrow and broad head will be in...

30 days until Okies invade South Africa!

Down to only 30 days before we head to South Africa! I'm 90% packed already. It seems unreal. A trip I have dreamed of since I was a kid!

Luggage that will accomodate full length arrows?

Looking for a rolling duffle preferably hard side that will be long enough to place an arrow box inside. I am taking a take down recurve and a compound to SA. I want to separate the two bows so that in the event of a lost bow case I will still be able to hunt upon arrival.

Blind window shooting causing a shift in POI

Anyone else experience this? I have been practicing through the mock shooting window I made and noticed that a large majority of my shots go about 4" right. Not too bad from 20 yards but I'd like to correct it. I think it may be because of the carport roof. My window is hanging from my...

    Quieting a recurve

This a string I ordered from Black Widow. I had them add the yarn wraps at the string ends. That combined with the fuzzy velcro made a HUGE difference in how this bow sounds. Now it is just produces a dull thump.

    Training for South Africa

Shooting and using our camera equipment for the hunt... and maybe drinking some wine. Camera controlled via cell phone. Some say I have a I have a "crazy eye" when shooting my bow.

Nockturnal lighted nocks change point of impact?

Anyone have problems with point of impact change when switching to these nocks? I'm using them in my fmj's and notice it. String fit is not as tight,

Two blade broad head sharpening with the KME

For you guys that use a cut a cut on impact two blade broadhead, the KME broadhead sharpener is hard to beat. It maintains a consistent angle and is super easy to use for those that are "sharpening challenged" lol. For my trip to South Africa this August, all of my recurve arrows will be...

What is a decent crossbow scope for the money?

I don't hunt with a crossbow but I just picked one up at a pretty good price. It is a Barnett Raptor FX2. The scope is just awful! The eye relief is about 12" and it is very blurry despite adjusting the rear lens. Any recommendations for a decent scope that isn't over $100?

I am ready to smash my Lee Pro 1000

I recently bought the dies to switch it to .223. I have loaded 1000s of rounds of pistol ammo on it. While trying to charge the case with ramshot TAC, it drops powder past the case onto and into the press. I have written Lee to get guidance and from what I can tell I have the die adjusted...

The VPA 150 gr broad head

I picked up 5 of these broad heads at a good price. These will be on the business end of my compound bow arrows making them weigh in at 528 grains. In my opinion they are near perfection. Hardened machined tool steel, a great length to width ratio. While more expensive than replaceable blade...

    Mock shooting window for practice

For those of you that have hunted with a trad bow out of a pit blind, did the reduced visibility of the target affect your shooting? I made this "shooting window" out of some shipping pallet and rubberized fabric. It seems to mess with my shooting a little. I hang it from the roof of my carport...

New action cam for South Africa bow hunt

I shot this with my new action cam. It is slowed and zoomed so it lost some clarity. The cam is called the Ultimate Predator action cam. So far I really like it! I will use it at the water hole in S.A. this summer. It can be controlled through an app on your smart phone.

Traditional bow set up for South Africa

My recurve is a Hoyt Gamemaster II at 55lbs. It is shooting my 650 grain FMJ arrows at 168 fps. I believe that gives it 40lbs of kinetic energy. My wish list for animals is Kudu, Gemsbok, Impala, and Blue wildebeest. My broadhead of choice is a Zwickey Delta. I believe that this will get the...
