Keep in mind that the Fusion/Gold Dot line is only going to penetrate about 16-22" in tissue. It was designed for killing deer and people. Not big African animals.

A regular 2.75" Remington or Winchester foster slug barely manages 12-14" penetration in the lab in ballistic gel. I would never use this on an angry bear.

It works well. It's a very tough bullet. The gold dot 75gr does more damage, but the 64gr nosler is a good round, too. Just not as disruptive. They penetrate similarly. I sent a box out for testing and that was the impression I was given by the shooter.

I like to compare bullets in gel, as well as real animals. When they coincide with each other (which they always do in my experience), you know you have a winner. This Gold Dot 75gr stuff is a winner, in my book.

This is why I have standardized on the 75gr Gold Dot. That 69gr was probably a SMK, and they only penetrate 3-6" after striking autoglass, and retain VERY LITTLE WEIGHT. I have friends who have a .3030 and who also hunt with the .223. The deer they have shot travel shorter distance with the .223, so far. I do not have a .3030 to compare.

Eye relief on most modern 1-6 optics is fixed. My vcog did not vary, nor do I recall my k16i (kahles military version of z6i) varying. Eyebox did shrink thiugh, as you would expect.
