I've used 270's all the way down to steenbok, and out to 300 yards. For most bush hunts you'd be hard pressed to shoot 400-500 unless down a two track fence line. But I've used 270 win 130's and 300 HH 180's on plains game too.
I have shot literally 1000's of rounds off hand in cross course service rifle matches but given the choice of off hand or sticks at a stationary (or slow moving) target I'm taking sticks! Any kind of static rest is better than none IMO. It's like anything shooting though, you really need to...
I have this blem Winchester model 70 stock I purchased couple years ago $450 and I don’t think I’m ever going to get around to what I purchased it for. It is a blem and has some over staining on left side at cross bolts. It has cross bolts, blued grip cap, recessed sling studs . I’m asking...

Cheers,
Tom

Rob404 made the comment on another post of "I wonder how many members have a Safari Express?"
So I thought that is a fun question lets see. I added the Super Express since it was the predecessor
My Super Express .375 H&H
I too have succumbed to the 77 Hawkeye African, I just couldn't resist the format. I like the Tikkas too but I am a sucker for a sighted rifle. I had looked for a Winchester model 70 for a long time but most were over priced IMO.
