No I havent but from what I see they seem to be legit. As long as it allows you to pay by CC and not one of these cash payment options you should be good.
Point being everyone have their own preferences, all good and valid, but it may lead you to multiple viable alternatives and a challenge to choose just one. I'd ask my Ph and go from there.
In the Houston Safari conv. this year I talked to a dozen or so hunters and Ph some had double digits...
Understand, however it is difficult to aim for the SA node given the fact that it is going to be most likely a broadside shot from a distance. Would be good to know if a buffalo can still charge with a pass thru shot of the heart or if the upper vessels are destroyed at close range
Can you elaborate on why you switched to solids? Understand your PH recommended but why even though the herd is aware. What difference if any it makes to the herd. I'm not challenging but with a hunt coming up I' trying to get gather and disseminate as much info. Thanks
Beautiful rifle!, congratulations. The smile it puts on your face is priceless.
Buffalo bore carries some ammo for the 577 ne that I have seen of late.. 40 a pop yikes!
Some great perspective here from some very experienced and knowledgeable gentlemen. Solids like the NF CPS that has a cavity in the nose for some controlled expansion could be factored in, doubling as both solid and soft even though expansion is not alike softs.
In the end shoot what you are...
People who hunt dangerous game are supposed to be hard charging, fast driving nuts. 5 years going on a BMW X5M, has been phenomenal..I love German engineering..
It should be fine, I confirmed from them a while back and they confirmed that the barrels are cold forged, at the same time this is not a match rifle but a hunting one as as such should be treated accordingly.
I'm in the same boat. You will have multiple options should you reload or even go for factory loads. I plan to use Swift AF for my first followed by either a Federal TBBC or Norma Woodleigh RNSN or North Fork CPS. Good to have choices... All of them shoot well as does Hornady DGX factory ammo.
At the Houston Safari convention I spoke a dozen PH as well as hunters that have double or triple digits DG under their belts. I always enquired about the gun they use and the ammo/bullets that go with them..
Swift A Frames was ubiquitous but many of them spoke very highly of the NF bullets, and...
I would like to know the science behind not touching any primer, I guess the reference is to the inside of the primer which anyway cannot be easily touched. The circumference fits inside the cup pocket but the base will invariably be touched if not during reloads but when you are handling your...
Not so much if you are diligent and follow the process. It is fairly straightforward unless you try to hot rod and go out of specs for whatever reasons.
You are killing me heard so much of the solid shanks that I really want to get hands on some. Unfortunately no response to my email to the new owners.previous owners had been responsive but then I heard of some quality control issues which I think has been fixed.
Can you share the name of your friend? I will make sure not to hunt with …..just kidding
Just as scary it could be not knowing where the ammo came from or who loaded it the converse is also true.
Thank you! with your and everyone wishes I’m sure I will be successful. I’m practicing shooting off a tripod and at the same time practicing my reloads with a level of success. It is a process but I’m happy to where I’ve been able to get in a short time. Have to keep at it and be patient with...
Thanks for your perspective Golam saheb. Now I understand why some folks prefer a soft and solid combo in a DB. Dr Robertson advises in using a soft first shot followed by a NF CPS as a devastating combo in 500 grains thru the barrel of a 470 ne.
Or use a double where you have an insurance 2nd shot, anyway in a very closed charge their is a very slight margin of error or time for re loads, IMO of course.
There are many variables to re-loading and to find the right combo for you and your rifle, you will need to practice and diligently follow the process using the correct components. Every modern-day bullet and powder have been developed with a specific purpose to hunt certain varieties of games...
Agreed, even for large plains game Giraffe, Big Eland bullet deformation and or deflection may occur if you hit the big bones. So, not recommended for DG, but excellent for thin skinned animals.
I have found PPU SP to be excellent,in all ways. Infact that what my 9.3 is sighted, very underrated but very capable and kills, and kills effectively.
Not challenging in any way, but the load varies so much based on bullet type and manufacturer. Barnes TSX for exp recommends a fps of max 1920 with a much lower load than solids. For Solids they increase the load significantly and bumps the fps to almost 2200.
And I guess with shipping etc. its not going to be cheap, probably more expensive than A Frames, and NF which is available here, but definitely worth a try. I like variety and options.
I hope some of the excellent RSA bullet makers Peregrine as well start having a presence in the largest market...
