I tested yesterday some 130gr Impala bullet is my 303. And Boom got keyholing on the target . What is very strange I fired two 150gr interlocks and and then an impala round hit about 2 inch from the other but got an keyhole. The rifle is an old martini Enfield with 30inch barrel so its mainly...
Good evening everyone hope everyone is doing well. I bought a Cz 557 eclipse 308 win and could only find 180gr Federal Fusion ammo at the shop so I bought a box. I did notice with the rounds feels very stif for a 308 feels more like the kick of a 30-06. Now I am wandering is it just the new...
The barrels twist rate affect the bullet choices the most. I am also from South africa and just bought the new CZ557 eclipse wanted a 30-06 but could not find one so settled on the 308win model. They both have a 1in10 twist rate so they will shoot better with rounds in the 158gr to 180gr
I have no problems with people whose body does not allow them to it on foot anymore I have some back injuries so I understand your point. I just dont like it when people are to lazy and just want to sit on the bakkie and just shoot with some refreshments
The big problem I have with bakkie hunters is as of late is. People want to shoot at long ranges and compete against each other with rifles that look like they belong on a bench rest competition. But thats just shooting and is fine for varmint. But I love doing the leg work and going on a walk...
I used the reloading bench at our gunshop. They have an RCBS benchprimer that I used . This was my first time reloading so still learning to do it. These are PMP ammo it was an South African ammunition manufacturer they are basically closed down now. They used to be good but the last 20 years...
They did seat with more force need I felt in move bit by bit then it stoped and just a bit extra pressure. They seated flush with the heads of the cases one or two just a bit below. Yes its for the Martini so I realy dont want to mess up the old gun. I want to go hunt with it still this year...
Thank you no I did not clean inside the pocket just the inside of the case before I deprimed and resized. I only cleaned the brass on the outside after seating the primer. Think I will just shoot of the primers and toss the brass I have only 40 of them and 60 Sellior and beloit brass
I am using Federal large rifle primers. We did not clean the pockets. I do not own a tumbler so I cleand the inside with a patch on a cleaning rod . The outsides I cleaned with a fine steel wool
This is for a 303 looks like commercial ammo. I did see on some PMP ammo there were the odd shapes are that there is some marks that look like someone took a punch and nocked the case to the primer side if that makes sense
I think I am going to toss that one then. There looks something not right with that one. I bought these brass once fired so I guess maby there is something wrong with that one
Thanx alot the Sellior and Beloit did seat flush and a few just slightly below. I pressed it till I felt it stopped and just a bit of pressure. I was loading at a shop that you can rent the reloading station and they had a bench primer the guy showed me quickly wat to do. Still need to trim some...
Good day everyone I am having a problem with primer seating. I am still new to reloading I noticed that my PMP brass the primers seated very deep. There is also a strang triangular mark around primer pocket on those shells. It was my first time priming cases did I use to much pressure?
Yes it is 1900 mk2 . The big problem I am having now is the extractor axis pin does not screw in deep it is not even flush with the other side you can still see some thread
Hey everyone yes it is the enfield. That is how the bore looks after 7 days of scrubing it the last part near the barrel crown is badly pitted say the last 10cm. The rest of it is shiny down to the chamber . Also in the pics it look worse than when you look down the bore
That cheap PMP brown box is not so easy to find anymore but PMP brass is the best. I just hope the inside of the barrel is in as good condition as the outside . I can believe it will be the best to hunt with it. It will be my only rifle at the moment as I am or was just a bow hunter
So to update every one my licence was approved last week Thursday. Just waiting for the card to go colect her should be in the next few weeks will post some nice pics of her. Do not think I will be hunting with it this season as it is coming to close will have basicaly one month if I am lucky...
I am going to take it to an old gunsmith that I know of and his work is perfect so I know he will just look it over for me. But I think it will pass very easy the current owner dit shoot it and he said it kicks like a mule or atleast compared to a lee enfield
I know this one would have had more than a few 303 mkvii rounds as South Africa made a lot for the English during Ww2 and most people use to shoot them. But I am rather going to reload for it and keep the presures not to high
Sorry I missed tiped I wanted to tipe S335. Will start with the lowest load and work up dont want to blow up a 120 year old rifle. The guy has shot a round that he used at that time in his lee enfield threw it
Will give that a try also have gotten a .30cal Tornado brush to get rid of rust if there is any in the barrel. This one is not the SMLE but uses the same barrel as them is just a falling block action. There no rust in the chamber and could not see any fresh rust in the front part but did not...
This one looks great what wood did you use for the stock. I am thinking of also putting a new stock on to safe the old on from getting damage somewhere
Here in South africa the brand you can find the most is PMP think its 150gr and 174gr. Most guys have shot that brand the most American ammo is to expensive. But was thinking of reloading. She is still in great condition small amount of rust on the outside of the barrel but will be removed...
Good day I am playing around with the idea to hunt with this clasic rifle. I am stil waiting for my firearm licenced to be approved so I am going mad. But have the idea to hunt a blue wildebeest with it next year hunting season. Its in near perfect condition for a almost 120year old gun. What...
Good day I bought a few days ago a Norinco 201c brand new. It is stil at the dealer so have not shot it yet. Do any one here perhaps have one and how does it shoot ?
These are nice guns because they are smaller and has less recoil. Because shooting a small large cal. Handgun might cause problems with follow up shots. I like the 32acp for a gun to hide easy sure it has about 9foot pounds less power at 50 yards but if you can shoot a very tight grooping with...
I know this isnt hunting related. I got given one as a present and would like to know if someone here has had one or still have one and what do you think of it. I did shoot it yesterday and was damn accurate for such a small handgun.
Good day I am very new to shotguns and saw a mossberg 410 bolt action shotgun and love the look of it. Have never shot a bolt action shotgun how are they for just shooting some birds and so one most shotguns I have shot is pump action 12ga
