Guys maybe a close second is crawling through rubber vine tunnels in the gulf country. When you come face to face at 1 or 2 metres and you can barely move in any direction it gets pretty hairy. Had some very close calls with pigs inside 1 metre but fortunately never got hurt, luckily.
Great start to your hunt. We never forget that feeling when you walk up to your first kudu on the ground. It is very emotional and you described it perfectly. Being an Aussie I loved your reference to meat pies. We eat’em for brekkie over here!
No words can describe this bushpig. You are the pig man getting a huge warthog and bushpig on the same trip.
Congratulations to you and your team.
PA. That local friend you met at Sydney airport before you departed must have brought you good luck.
What an amazing hunt. Those 2 warthog together-wow. Your buff is a cracker. Exceptional BW and impala. You are nailing it. Would love to see a photo of narrow horn??
Think of the air-miles that blue suitcase must have earned!
Great report on a very tough hunt.
Love the shoes off. Tracking eland in stony country, my PH made everyone take their boots off but didn’t ask me. It turned out a very long stalk and all the crew pulled up lame. They had to radio camp...
Thanks Henry and look forward to photos when available. In the meantime do you have a list of other species available on this concession and the size of the concession
Can you please post a couple of photos of bushpigs you have taken on this concession. I am interested in seeing the colour and size in your area. Also can you advise the size of this concession and other species that can be hunted.
I totally endorse Jorg Kruger’s comment. The quad bike tour in the sand dunes at Swakopmund is an incredible experience. The sandhills go right to the ocean and the views are superb.
Medicine, I have never before read a Hunt Report that has invoked such deep thinking. The fact that you are an inanimate object makes it all the more incredible.
I can’t wait until you report back after next year’s hunt in Makuti chasing black death. That is assuming Ishmael can trust you again...
Medicine I am a bit slow on the uptake because the internet speed is a bit slow in the land from down under and it has all those oceans to travel across. I would have answered to your first quiz, option K, none of the above. I believe you are a leader of a secret government “wet team” sent in to...
@Edge that was a fantastic hunt and a great report. You got some cracking trophies and held out for big animals.
I know how you feel about the eland. I lost a big kudu in Namibia and it consumed my thoughts for some time. Another good reason to go back.
Adrian is the real deal and a few of my...
Bruce this an outstanding report of the highest caliber (pun intended)
What an incredible safari in a truly wild and unique part of Africa. I have now added this hunt to my wish list.
Gizmo that is one helluva hunt, only surpassed by your contagious report. “Swinging in the breeze” I haven’t stopped laughing and I too would be happy to freeball it to nail a big baboon. After 4 safaris I am still baboon-less.
The other thing we have in common is that black wildebeest is number...
Loved your report and very inspiring stuff that you made your trip so soon after taming the Wolf.
My wife got rid of the Wolf many years ago and has never looked back.
Loving the report JES. Those buffalo are proving to be challenging with those wind changes. I sense you will get your bull very soon. Fantastic shooting by Deb on the hippo.
Keep it coming!
Great report so far Bob. Love your old kudu and that impala is a monster. Brings back fantastic memories of my trip in 2011 to hunt with Harald and Liezel at Osombahe Nord Safaris. The Kalahari Desert has something about it that draws you in. Seeing so many different animals in an arid...
Blacks that is a truly amazing bushpig. Congratulations. I have sat for hours at night in bushpig blinds with nothing to show but hard luck stories. A full mount will be awesome. That is your trophy of the trip IMO.
