Tuskless ele! I hunted tuskless in Matsetsi/Zim, with multiple crawls into herds daily. When they start snorkeling and you hastily crawl back is excitement on another level. When the ele is down both regret and the relaxation of tension is flowing.
I can suggest Mojanatu Productions, located in Limpopo but travels all over Africa. Megan and Ryno Botma are excellent as videographers and as company on a safari [emoji106]
I made a case for my double in 470Ne mainly for using to/from the range. The hides been used are Kudu, Blue Wildebeest and a Red Stag for the inner lid:
A great gun and caliber! I also have the R8 with 500 Jeffery, and reload with Hornady FMJ with 500grains and Woodleigh softs with 535grains at 2150 ft/s. Major impact in both ends of the barrel [emoji3][emoji51]
I shoot my 375 with 300gr Aframe, and have developed a load with the same point of impact at 100 meters with the Sierra prohunter 200gr bullet. With 68gr Norma 201 powder, winchester shells and federal 215 these are pushed out at 870m/s, with very little recoil.
The sickness can only be cured by obtaining more big bores and/or shooting them [emoji3]. Currently I have managed to collect and shoot 458lott, 470ne and 500jeffery...
My Merkel 140 470NE was regulated with Woodleigh 500gr SN, to 80m. I have developed the following load that shoots consistently 1-2 inch groups at 100m with federal cartridges, federal 215 magnum primers and 106gr Norma MRP
I’m in the same situation with a container waiting for permits (now about 5+ months and counting). Seems the export permit process is extremely slow. A good idea is to ensure no daily storage fee are incurred during your wait...
Got confirmation from my local SCI chapter who have been in touch with Frankfurt:
If you are transiting Frankfurt and have a valid European Weapon Passport, there are no need for more paperwork..
As I understand it, this is only necessary if the weapons are not checked through directly, i.e you need to collect and recheck weapons due to change of airlines etc?
For inspiration, this is my selfmade case for my favourite Merkel 470NE double. There are a topic somewhere in this forum with more pictures.
Outside is laden with Kudu and wildebeest, inside blesbok, and inside lid Norwegian Red deer buck.
Congrats to both the buyer and the seller!
Question: What type of game meat do you serve for dinner?
Better question: Can I help cull some animals for meat?
Edit: next question from the outfitter goes: Are you comfortably with head shots?
With the better answer is «yes».
I think it was this variant: [emoji51][emoji3]
Some Swedes were hunting moose in Norway and manage to shoot one.
When they started to pull the moose out to the nearest road they met a Norwegian who told them to tie the rope in the nose instead of the back legs.
It will be more easy to pull the...
Thanks for the opportunity, this was/is the funniest joke ever:
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?"...
I live in Scandinavia and use this company for all trophy shipments: http://labradorcargo.com
They have never failed, and deliver super service before, under and after a delivery.
If you want more info I’ll gladly share.
I have hunted tuskless and are waiting for the hide. I’ve ordered the 5 panels of hide, to be tanned with natural color, and are planning to get done a couple of gun bags/sleeves etc. The feet made into 4 small sitting things, the ears done for wall backgrounds behind other trophies...
Finally I came up with a plan how to utilize backskins from earlier safaris in Africa, a gun case for my Merkel double in 470ne. The case is created by plywood and wood, and covered inside and outside with backskins from blue wildebeast, blesbok and kudu, where the inside lid are covered with...
