Some good information @expresshunt. I am thinking of getting a 404J barrel on my brno 602 and having it at 22". What do you think would be best barrel length?
Good stuff Tim. My dream of a double Cape Buff hunt was also not possible but I have a brand new plan.
Happy to see you were able to get out and take a great Banteng
@IvW Out of genuine interest I was wondering if you could post those photos on the shot placement thread with a dot showing brain shot. I want to hunt elephant in the future and the more information is knowledge.
Hi Russell, I have used the 300 gn North Fork on large bovives here in Aus and they have performed excellent on all occasions. They mushroom well and retain nearly all their weight. They will certainly take above and below Eland size animals.
I am following this with interest as I have a ZKK 602 action and no stock.
I have been trying to source a Walnut stock without success so far. I believe the the CZ 550 will fit but with mods.
It would be nice if someone with both could chime in and maybe post a photo of a Zkk602 action in a...
Bruce, My 280 is usually loaded with Accubonds or Woodleighs but I will always carry a few Ballistic tip for those occassions when the target is across on the other ridge.
Hey Bruce, during load development I tried a number of bullets and the Ballistic tip gave me sub MOA and I have complete confidence in the gun and load. I have confidence in taking a shot at a deer at 200 - 500m under good conditions with the Ballistic tip and it has proven good terminal...
I have used 150 gr ballistic tip 7mm in my 280AI on deer from 30m out to 580m. The ballistic tip is extremely accurate in my gun and works well at extended ranges. The bullet does not hold together when used at less than 150m. On all occasions ( 5 deer) that I have used this bullet at less than...
Hey Aussie Hunter I have no experience with the 458 Cal.
I tried the 450gn RNSP in my 416 Rigby and I believe that they are too soft and did not perform like I wanted. Therefore I only use them for pigs. I am now using the 430gn Rhino solid shank in the 416R and they are perfect for big heavy...
Got a double Buffalo hunt for July in Zimbabwe. Deposit and air fares paid in Nov last year. It is not looking good and the Aus dollar is worth about the same as a Zim dollar at the moment.
Best wishes to you all.
Hey Bruce, Do you know where I can get 250gn A-frame 35 cal projectiles.
I have tried a number of LGS but no luck. Brownells are no back order as well.
Deewayne, what weight bullet are you going to use?
I have settled on the 430 gn Rhino solid shank and 430gn Northfork solids. Reckon that should take on anything I should see in the bush.
That is an extreme spread. Are you sure your chrony is working OK.
Mine plays up a bit on sunny days as the shades are not large enough.
Test with a packet of 22 bullets that have the published velocity on them. I find that 22 data is usuall pretty good.
It is my plan this July to take both my 375 Wby and 416 Rigby and shoot a buffalo with each. My reasoning is that I had the 375Wby custom built many years ago and it was built specifically to take to Africa. Well, that did not happen on my first two PG trips to South Africa as other rifles I...

Victor, you have certainly has set the bar high, what a magnificant Kudu.
