I called a work colleague once who had left early. I called him on his mobile, which he often left at work, and said "John, thought you might want to know you have left your phone on your desk again"
He actually drove back to the office before he realised.
Pictures are always welcome.
Would it be too hard to neck up an 8 x 57R?
I have not compared the case dimensions but maybe a neck expander and if needs be fireforming?
I speak as someone who reforms 7x65R brass to 8x60R (for a light calibre double - to go back to the OP for a moment)
So whilst...
Yes she is a beauty. A .577 Short Rifle for an officer. 3 groove barrel with original rammer, two band, and bayonet. W&C Scott 1860 Birmingham England. She is for sale if you are interested . Not mine, an elderly friends with a massive collection - all for sale. In fact all three are along...
I had the chance to look at a 9.5 x 57 a couple of years ago. A Mannlicher Schoenauer 1910
The furniture had heavy patina (lol) but the action was as smooth as silk and a pristine bore.
Would love to be able to hunt with it
And below on the right
(Sorry for the rubbish photos)
With thin-skinned game like Roe Deer a standard 175 grn Prohunter may give less than ideal terminal performance. In my humble opinion, this is a great fix -based on my experience. Your experience may be different? Didn't want to start a pissing competition
Just to go back to the 8 x 60. Most likely due to it's larger case capacity, back when it came out in the early part of the last century it would have had have more power than the 8 x 57.
However I have no doubt that with plethora of modern powders now available an 8 x 57 can be loaded to give...
Some interesting stuff about the 8 x 57 here (below) along with plenty of others.

The 8 x 60 is to all intents and purposes pretty much identical to the 8 x 57, the additional 3mm was a simply "work-around" following the Treaty of Versailles
A slightly different approach here. This is a "Pig Pouch"
The purpose being for when on driven Boar.
From "Fine Shooting Accssories" in Scotland (no affiliation to me).
Fits on a belt up to 2" wide

Cherish every moment, as I am sure you will, whilst looking forward to the many hunting trips you will take him on, then one day when you are old and grey, it will be Harry taking you.
As it should be.
After another long stint in the deserts of the Middle East I arrived back home 3 weeks ago late in the evening after 23 hrs travel involving two flights and a lot of hanging around - as is usually the way with international travel.
After saying hi to the wife and dogs and in desperate need of...

Here she is a few weeks ago. Just look at the size of those pads
in relation to her body. She is now 3 months old and pretty feisty, I have some fresh "play-bite" scars to prove it!
She is playing and...
This is not a hunting report
Arabian Leopard? How could it be?
Some older members of Africahunting may recall my obsession with Ingwe
