    Shooting from sticks

Here is the target I was talking about. This target was shot with my solids load at 100 yards. My solids shoot higher than my softs. I've fired about 800 rounds through my Lott in the last 4 months and this is the best group I've shot at 100 yards yet. I'm pretty proud of it since I was using a...

    Shooting from sticks

Well poo. I must retract my previous post in part. After reading what TMS and Royal wrote I went to try out modifying my stance. I squared up much more with the gun. Stood a bit more erect. Took my hand out of the V. Put the fore end in the V just in front of my hands. Pulled the gun down into...

    Shooting from sticks

I'm no expert by any means it here is what I do with my 375 and 458 Lott. I'm right handed. I hold the rifle like I normally would shooting off hand. Pull the butt in nice and tight. Left foot forward and leaning into it a bit (I try to let my body roll at the abdomen with the recoil as much...

    .458 Lott advise

I'm a huge fan of a red dot on a rifle. Although I'm not a huge fan of the EOTech series of sights. They might be a bit big for the bolt gun and sit up too high. The bigger problem is mounting. The thing on a BRNO or CZ action is the built in mounts. The built in dovetail is a bit small. I...

    458 Lott with RL15

The DGS load actually has more case capacity than the load for the a-frame. The part that really has me scratching my head is the difference in loads between Hornady and Woodliegh. They are very similar bullets yet the minimum load for the Woodliegh is 4 gr. over the max load for the Hornady.

    458 Lott with RL15

Yup. Healthy but manageable. Like my 500 mag revolver. It's an aquired taste but once you get over the initial shock it becomes fun to blow up water bottles with.

    458 Lott with RL15

Guys, I am looking for some advice on reloading the Lott with RL15 since I have a bunch of it sitting around. I have several books and they vary widely in their max loads. Swift lists 83 gr with the 500 gr a-frame Hornady lists 77 gr with their 500 gr series. And woodliegh lists 85 gr with...

    Big Bore Addiction Group

Not trying to be a buzz kill but I see how it came out that way. I had a friend not too long ago hurt himself and the concussion really messed him up. That being said, I'm the guy that watched the you tube video of the guys shooting the 577 Trex at the indoor range and thought to myself, "those...

Matt, I simply must interject at this point. If you truely got an instant, "recoil headache," then you most likely received a minor concussion. Repeating the experience will Most likely result in further concussions. All of this can lead to some serious long term damage to your brain up to and...

    Penetration

I'm not sure how to post video links. This guy also has a video of him shooting a magnum research BFR chambered in 458 win mag. He does present some interesting information. However, I think penetration into dry phone books only gives one part of the story. A smith 500 in 440 gr. will...

    Ziess Conquest 8x42 HD

I love mine. I bought a set of the Terra's first because I thought they were great compared to what I was using. Still a wonderful pair of binos and they live in my truck. Then I went to a cabelas and tried all of the binos they had in the store. I settled on the Conquests as a true value. The...

    Big Bore Addiction Group

Dang you all! This site and thread have lightened my wallet. When I was a teenager I dreamed of bears and buffalo. I thought a 375 H&H was all I would ever need. I mean the cartridge was positively daunting when comparing it to the 223 and 30-06 I was using on coyotes and deer respectively...

    Scope mounts and binoculars

I think the rangefinder is one of the best tools for bow hunting and would probably use one instead of binos in that senario. In terms of not using your scope to look at game, I was thinking longer distance viewing. I still use mine it thee woods but I'd you already know what you are pointing...

    Scope mounts and binoculars

Just like everyone else said, if your current scope setup is working there is no need to change it. Make sure everything is tight before you go and maybe take the tools to tighten it with you on your trip. As for the binos i think you tend to get what you pay for up to a certain point. If...
