Anybody seen Blackhorn 209 in stock recently?

Blackhorn209.com is actually Hodgdon, so you bought it from Hodgdon. Type www.blackhorn209.com and it will forward you directly to the Hodgdon website. www.blackhorn209powders.com though is a HOAX website. And that's what KRISH previous linked to... he possibly also didn't know he linked to the...

Anybody seen Blackhorn 209 in stock recently?

RMC - the guy you responded to, linked a website called "www.blackhorn209powders.com" which IS a hoax website, and then you replied to him saying "yep, that's where I ended up getting it...." - hence my reply to you. All good though!! I just wanted to make sure you guys were not "advising"...

Anybody seen Blackhorn 209 in stock recently?

You bought it as this hoax website, and they actually delivered? I'm speechless. A website with NO phone number, NO address and known to be a scam... And selling hard to find $80 per 1/2 lbs powder for $330 for 5 lbs, or $33 per 1/2 lbs....

Wanted Sauer 404 Right Hand Bolt Head For 404 Jeffery

I I had even contacted the factory in February, and they told me as a one-off, they would make me a new 404 Jeffery bolt head, and they then got a guy at Blaser USA to call me. He bluntly told me they could not make it, as it was discontinued years ago. I told him what the factory had said, and...

Wanted Sauer 404 Right Hand Bolt Head For 404 Jeffery

That's where I got it from this week - after calling and emailing over 100 stores in Canada, USA, Germany, France, Bulgaria and the UK.... LOL. If only I knew of them a year ago, I would have saved myself a LOT of effort. And doing Google searches, they previously never came up. But this week...

Wanted Sauer 404 Right Hand Bolt Head For 404 Jeffery

And some GOOD NEWS for me, at last!!! I found a store in Houston, TX that still have 404 Jeffery barrels AND 404 Jeffery Bolt Heads in stock!!! WhooHoo, so I ordered the correct bolt head now. Pity Blaser USA had such a no-care attitude.

Wanted Sauer 404 Right Hand Bolt Head For 404 Jeffery

I eventually figured out how to get it done... I trimmed the rims of the brass down just a tad on my lathe, so the Magnum bolt head now extracts the brass with no hassles. And I got a GREAT gunshop in Bulgaria to get Sauer to build them a magazine, which took 5 months but I got it 2 weeks ago...

Sauer 404 Barrels and bits for sale UK

Good morning - thanks for the info - unfortunately his is a standard bolt head that accepts 308 and 243. I need a bolt head specifically for a 404 Jeffery - it’s slightly bigger than the Magnum bolt head even. I appreciate you letting me know!!!

    Fire forming: .375 H&H Magnum to .423 (404) Jeffery

I was able to turn down the rim on the Norma 404 Jeffery just brass ever so slightly in the lathe, so it fits the Sauer 404 Magnum bolt head. Works like a charm now!!! Thanks for all the friendly advice.

    Fire forming: .375 H&H Magnum to .423 (404) Jeffery

Hello Gert - thanks for the kind gesture. I'm originally from Pretoria, but now live in Canada. I spoke to Ralph Badenhorst in Ermelo, and he's going to take a look at the bolt head when I get to SA next weekend - hopefully it's doable. If he cannot, I will get in touch with Johan Greyling!!! Do...

    Fire forming: .375 H&H Magnum to .423 (404) Jeffery

Thanks for your insights. I’m taking the bolt head with me to South Africa next week - there’s a custom gun builder there that build fantastic rifles and even build their own Mauser double square bridge actions in-house - hopefully they have some ideas.

    Fire forming: .375 H&H Magnum to .423 (404) Jeffery

The barrel is a Sauer 404 factory 404 Jeffery barrel. I just cannot find a 404 Jeffery bolt head for it and Sauer won’t make it anymore. So my first thought was to get a gunsmith to look at “opening up” the bolt head ever so slightly so it accepted the 404 Jeff case… but that’s not been possible...

    Fire forming: .375 H&H Magnum to .423 (404) Jeffery

@Gert Odendaal Resurrecting an old thread of yours I just stumbled on, and I found it fascinating. I have a major dilemma - I own a Sauer 404 rifle, and have a new 404 Jeffery barrel for it, but Sauer stopped making the 404 Jeffery calibers, and I need a 404 Jeffery bolt head for this barrel...

Wanted Sauer 404 Right Hand Bolt Head For 404 Jeffery

Hello everyone I'm desperately looking for a Sauer 404 right hand BOLT HEAD for a 404 JEFFERY, as well as a 404 Jeffery magazine for a Sauer 404. I cannot find one anywhere, and Sauer don't make them anymore. If you have one, or know where I can find one, please let me know. Thanks Robbie

Travelling from Canada to SA with a rifle

I agree 100% - I'm originally from South Africa and now live in Alberta, Canada. My last hunt in 2017 I used a friends' rifles, and it was just not the same as taking my own rifles and my own handloads with premium bullets.... In May when I go again, I am taking my OWN rifles with me once again...

    R8 Custom Barrels-Dream Come True!

I just received an email back from the store selling the 404 Jeffery rifles on Egun. He says he's only aware of 3 of these barrels in 404 Jeffery, and he somehow got his hands on all 3 used rifles to sell. So doesn't seem to be in "production" - just one-off units from time to time possibly...

    R8 Custom Barrels-Dream Come True!

Correct. I sent the store in Germany an email to ask where they're getting all 404 Jeffery rifles from.... Curious to know, as the one being sold now, was originally produced in 2012. The one they sold in late December was a 2021 production rifle.

    R8 Custom Barrels-Dream Come True!

They once again have a current auction - this is the 3rd 404 Jeffery they're selling in just over 2 months... This one is actually stamped 404 Jeffery... https://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=14665455 Barrel serial of this one is R040749. The one sold in December 2021 was R183473....

    Blaser R8 Kilombero Kickstop

Thanks for your advice jdemocko I contacted Andre at Blaser yesterday, and he gave me the part number for the Stock Nut - C5900008. Cost $5.50 from the local Blaser dealer, and I picked it up today. This is what it looks like - better than a hardware store nut, as this one can be tightened with...

    Blaser R8 Kilombero Kickstop

I might not permanently remove it - just want to see what a little less heavy rifle feels like - especially with the semi weight smaller caliber barrels.

    Blaser R8 Kilombero Kickstop

Thanks BeeMaa, I found that picture you show, but mine has the hard red rubber recoil pad, and you cannot "pinch" it with your fingers to find the cut slots. EDIT: Just found it had 2 red rubber 1/2" round "plugs" that go into the recoil pad, and pulled them out to find the screws. Thanks...

    Blaser R8 Kilombero Kickstop

Hi guys, looking for some advice once again please. Does anyone have a picture to share with me, so I know how to remove the Kickstop from the R8 Kilombero stock? The stock has the hard, red recoil pad, but I cannot for the life of me, find the slots to insert a screwdriver or allenkey to...

R8 Kilombero with Match or Semi-Weight Barrels??

I am so grateful for everyone's help on here - thank you!!! @ One Day - Thank you SO much for the ton of info. Yeah, I figured I'll remove the kickstop anyway, as I'm not recoil shy at all (unless shooting from the bench - LOL). The rifle will be plenty heavy enough to mitigate the recoil - the...

R8 Kilombero with Match or Semi-Weight Barrels??

Hi One Day Thank you SO much. Edit: And thanks for the photos - THAT'S what I needed to see. Semi-weight it will be!!! It was after reading your posts on the R8's that I started looking into them with some effort. My plan was to order a Jaeger or Attache in grade 6 or 7 wood so as to get the...

R8 Kilombero with Match or Semi-Weight Barrels??

I'm not too worried about the weight, to be honest, as I have lots of relatively heavy rifles.... My Kimber Caprivi in 375 H&H with S&B 1-8x24 Exos weighs 10.8 lbs and I've hunted with that rifle a LOT. My Dakota 76 African in 416 Rigby with S&B 1.25-4x24 weighs 11.8 lbs (11 lb 13 oz) and my...

R8 Kilombero with Match or Semi-Weight Barrels??

Hi guys. Just ordered a Blaser R8 Kilombero with safari 22mm 375 H&H barrel. I want to add a couple of other calibers, but have seen some photos of the standard 17mm barrels and they look a bit out of place to me, on the 22mm barrel channel of the Kilombero. My options I guess would be either...
