A snafu led to my receiving a kudu skull plate rather than the entire skull that was supposed to be used as a european skull mount.
Anyone have any ideas what to do with it? Just simply mounting it on a plaque won't work - it would stick straight out from the wall! :)
I would even like...
I had good luck with Swift Dip. Natasha provided excellent service and superior communications.
She personally mounted these warthog tusks for me in order that they become a "finished" trophy and I could take direct receipt from the airport of the shipment.

Thank you to all the offers of hunting services on this thread, but it was actually meant as an information request on methods and experiences vice a solicitation of services - hence its original posting in the bowhunting section.
If anyone does have any specific experiences, methods or...
I'm looking for information on fair chase gemsbok hunting in Africa?
I know fair chase can have lots of meanings, but for me I am looking for no feed troughs and no fences no matter how large the containment area is. Game cameras are fine, waterholes fine, but spot & stalk is preferred...
While at the local office they called the home office - no luck. 35 minutes wasted. So, I called the home office myself. Still clueless. Another 50 minutes wasted.
I have everything browningbbr indicated plus the information from the intermediate bank. I'm wondering if I really need...
I need to send some money to my dip/pack. Less than $1K. The dip/pack gave me lots of numbers including a US intermediate bank in NY.
My bank is clueless on how to accomplish the transfer. What/how can I tell my bank to accomplish the transfer?
Or, does anyone have any suggestions...
I stayed at Africa Sky Guest House, it isn't far from the airport and I felt secure. Place seemed older, but was fine. Consisted of something like little condo villas. Sleeping room with sitting area, refer, TV, separate toilet in room, separate tub/shower/sink in room.
At the utilized...
I'll look at those duffels again. If I remember right the longest one wasn't long enough for my ATA on my back up bow.
Definitely planning to travel sans camo and after lots of feedback here on AfricaHunting.com I will be taking only a minimum of camo.
Thanks, dv
Thanks Intu,
Wasn't easy to find once I got to your site, but there is a lot of helpful info there. Here's a short cut.

Trying to decide if I should use plane ramp meet and greet service in J'Burg (bow only). Gracy's service is $85 from the plane ramp to the lodging transportation.
Really just want to avoid the hassle with the bow case that I've heard about.
What do you think?
thanks, dv
Thanks for the replies.
I'm planning to use the 100 grain, four-blade Magnus Stingers. TOM indicated some blood trail problems with them, however, which gives me some concern.
I'd e-mailed Gary at Slick Trick and he recommended the ST standard or magnums which I already have a lot of...
For my upcoming trip to Africa for Plains Game I wanted to see what bow/arrow combination produced the best Kinetic Energy (I'm not convinced momentum over KE is the determining factor in penetration). I wanted to look at facts vs. anecdotes.
After looking at the results I'm not sure adding...
Excellent words. I haven't been to Africa, but I've done a few hunts here in the U.S. where this is exactly the case.
-Took a pronghorn hunt last fall. Outfitter wouldn't adapt to spot and stalk necessitated by wet conditions (14-16 hour days in blinds over waterholes in torrential...
Dat's smart!
Now I've heard several people talk about camp ironing and ruining of clothes. Can't I just tell them, "No iron?"
What's up with that?
thanks, dv
I'm really trying to go Mark Kayser style. I don't see how that guy had enough room in his baggage for all the different brand logo hats he wore on his last safari I read about :).
Thanks everyone. You are really making my packing list come together.

Tom, did you find you had enough time available in the vehicles to do charge items sufficiently? Are those outlets always hot? I've got 3 in my truck and I don't think any are hot when the truck is off?
Owenowen, nice, thanks.

Regarding electric converters and adapters for my I-pods and video camera charging.
1) Do I need a converter for RSA? If so, how do I know it is the right one?
2) Do I need an adapter? How do I know it is the right one? What does it look like?
Read something that the "kits" often don't...
Thanks,
That is good stuff. Seems silly, but I was considering taking some long-johns. As a runner with 3-4% body fat I get cold very easy. The black tops I have would work well.
Thanks everyone for all the good input, dv
I will be water hole hunting in August in the Limpopo region.
Trying to figure out what to pack for hunting in relation to camo vs. black out gear for blinds? Also, I have seen this particular outfitter hunt from trees which complicates everything. I don't want to overpack. I'm already a...
West Allis Bowmen (in Franksville vice West Allis) will be hosting a Safari Night with Dries Visser Safaris on Saturday, January 30th at 6:00 pm. Dries Visser himself will be giving the presentation.
Pizzas, snacks, beer, sodas and drinks will be available from the WAB bar.
Please see...
I saw some pictures, represented to be from Africa, about bowfishing. Man, where were they?
Was it some still pics from that promotional DVD about hunting in Africa at Dries Visser Safaris? Not one of Dries Vissser's normal videos, but shot and hosted by some lunatic North American writer...
Yes, unfortunately you never know if it is just a business dispute or what the truth of the matter is.
Hopefully someone will stay there and let us know about food, safety and accommodations.

AfricaSky Guest House
Talking to Gracy Travel who said Afton House's owner had become quite sick last year and was taken over by relatives. Said they've received a number of "unflattering" reviews since that time and have since shifted their recommendations to AfricaSky Guest House. Said food...
Was wondering about that myself. Maybe leave the latches unlocked and wrap the case with a TSA locked strap or cable of some sort?
Anybody know this?
thanks, dv
Spent 20 years in the Navy - instead hanging out in the bars and "gut" I liked to meet the people and see the culture instead. Learning a few words, especially "thank you" always seemed to go a long ways.

I'm looking at an amended contract for my hunt in RSA and I see under the "deposit paid" block the amount I paid, the date it was paid and the booking agent's name followed by "het die bedrag".
What does that mean? A few searches produced results to make it look like it means, "paid this...
Thanks for stirring the pot, brudder. I can't avoid O'Hare, but they did allow me quite a bit of time on the ground there. Atlanta is where I really wanted to avoid. On business travel they just can't get it right for me there.

TOM,
You are making me want to cry :crying:.
Just had family give me 18 each 100 grain, 4 blade Magnus Stingers for Christmas for my trip to RSA due to my shorter DL and lower KE (initial 62 ft/lbs) - cut on contact.
Slipped away from Muzzy's quite some time ago, but have about a...
I was wondering about that. What info would taxi provide? I'm only planning on having one shoulder mount done by taxi and probably have one backskin tanned by a tannery somewhere. All else will just be the skulls and horns. Planning to take shipment home, deliver horns and cape for shoulder...
