    Shooting sticks

I have read all the post and there is a lot of merit in everyones opinion. I have been hunting in Africa since I was a young boy of 6. This is 54 years ago. In all terrain from mountains to open flat plains and the desert. I will not take a quad stick into thick bush. It is stupid. I will also...

Used the G5 Mega meats again 2 weeks ago and they did not let me down. Just on a point of interest. The Megameat consist of 2 types of steel. The actual point which is hard and sharp as well as the threaded part which is a softer steel that will allow the head to bend instead of break when...

I chose the G5 Mega Meat. It is a really good option. It leaves a massive blood trail and was easy to recover...

    300 Win Mag options?

Ridgewalker is giving very good advise. If I may add. Know the anatomy of the animals. Hunting in the plains will be ok as you will see the complete animal most of the time. Hunting in the bush, you might only see parts of the animal through the bush. It is not always going to be a square on...

Movement and scent is your biggest problem. When walking, stay about 2 -3 yards directly behind your guide. You do what he does. Berger bullets in Africa

This is exactly my point. Using a Berger on a quartering or full frontal is a bad idea as it disintegrates and a poor shot. Using Barnes, Swift or Nosler, it is a perfectly fine shot and as deadly as square on, as you destroy the major arteries and heart.

    Berger bullets in Africa

Yes you are correct. I have never hunted with Berger but I was the spotter last year on our Kalahari trip where my hunting buddy shot a Gemsbok on the shoulder. Berger bullets in Africa

My 2c I would rather hunt with a premium bullet like Barnes, Nosler AB or partition giving me a 2” grouping than shoot a Berger VLD with a .5 grouping.
