    Mauser Oberndorf 9.3x62

Nice to see the work is finally getting started! I'm pretty sure it will come out looking awesome with all the plans you have for it! Have you decided on what engraving you want on it yet?

Looks horrible matt, I'm sure that even though it's set up the wrong way I can find a home for it for 50$ so you can just cut your losses.... I expect a full report on Wednesday at the latest or I'll spam your inbox until you post it!

Sadly they weren't interested in exporting the rifle, otherwise it would have a new home already :(

Ohh, and I especially think that a box or two through my 9.3x74r barrel set for the double would get you back on track and get used to the double :)

HHS, you have just been lulled into a false sense of security with that supressed .308 of yours..... Jumping from 22lr recoil levels to a 470 is a pretty big step :sneaky: Leave the bigger bores until your shoulder has healed up ( I know its hard since they are so much fun to shoot!!) And once...

    Lefty Shooting a Double Rifle

Well I don't have experience with many doubles except for the Krieghoff 470NE that I currently own but I have no problems shooting it as a lefty even though it is a right handed rifle. The stock is 100% straight though so it fitted me really well even if it did have a cheek piece on the wrong...

Like always a pleasure to read your stuff mate :)

    Who reloads.....and why?

Well, for me it is the satisfaction of doing it myself, the price aspect(10 rnds of 470NE for 150$ anyone?) and that some of the calibers I shoot you don't have that many choices of bullets if you stick to factory loads. And it is always a way to get out of the house and shoot some more :)

    Big Bore Addiction Group

Thanks matt, The Lott will actually be purely for wild boar hunting over feed in the dark with a 7x50 illuminated Zeiss. Still hoping for that 600+ lbs boar to step out :) Think I might try the 550gr Northforks for it to see what they can do :) The 404 will be both a "backup" to my 470 and a...

    Big Bore Addiction Group

So my addiction strikes.... I have long wanted a rifle in the classic cal 404Jeffery and finally made the decision to order myself one. Sadly there is a fair bit of waiting for this rifle to arrive (4-6 months) but they say that waiting is good for you.... So what did I order? A Mauser M03...

    Eland with a .30-06?

Sorry Witold but I have to disagree with you there... Claiming minimum caliber .338 is just wrong. A .308win or 30-06 is more than adequate for the job. If you don't hit the vitals or cns it doesn't matter what caliber you use, just use common sense and don't try to reach the vitals from...

    Eland with a .30-06?

I shot my Eland earlier this year with the NorthFork 180gr but in .308win without any problems. Perfect mushroom and it only went about 20yds after the shot. Shot it at about 120 yds or so on the shoulder. Grab the heavier bullet or even step up to a 200gr a-frame or Northfork since you got the...

    Shoot too many animals?

Work up a budget then double it just in case you run into one or more "monsters" that is a once in a lifetime deal... I don't think I have ever gone to Africa and not shot some extras that just happened along!

What is the worst rifle you have ever owned?

One of my previous dream rifles turned out to be a real pos... Sako TRG 42 in 338LM... Brand new rifle of the new model with all the upgrades and all the extras. Was happy as anything with the rifle when I picked it up. Had to wait two weeks to get some ammo for it and another week to have time...

    Blaser R8 in .500 Jeffery?

I would have no problems with getting a r8 in 500Jeffery. I am actually choosing between a barrel in 416rem, 458lott or 500Jeffery right now. The only "downside" I see to the Jeffery is that it will only take 2+1 rounds. Not that it should pose much of a problem though....

Brickburn :) Love to see the little kiddies faces when I tell them the reason they don't make Timon and Pumba anymore:sneaky: (yes, I know its not a meerkat but close enough...) Do You Take The Shot?

In Europe it is very common with driven hunts with dogs and the animals moves pretty quick with a dog behind it. I would say that about 50-70% of my hunting is done this way. In Sweden shooting a moving target (moose) is part of the test that you have to take to be allowed to hunt and to own...

    Blaser Rifles?

I do love my blasers, always have and always will! Just sold my second blaser r93 (both r93 varmints in .308) just two days ago and I am replacing it with a blaser r8 in cal .308 and either 416rem or 500Jeffery. Once I got used to the straight pull action I fell in love with the trigger and...

    Proper scope mounting

I choose the ring height depending on the rifle stock. Whatever rings give me the most natural and comfortable shooting position. If I close my eyes and put the rifle to my shoulder the sight picture should be right there when I open my eyes again. If that is low, medium or high depends on the...

    Finest Riflescope?

Rookhawk I couldn't agree more even though I would place the Zeiss Victory HT up together with the Z6. Having owned most of the brands and models mentioned here and a fair amount more at one time or another I can't say that any of my rifles use a leupold, vortex, meopta or nikon. I fairly...

    One or Two Rifles?

I didn't have any problems bringing two barrels with me in 2013 (.308win and 45blaser). They counted the rifle with one barrel as a whole rifle and the barrel as a barrel. As long as you got licenses/correct paperwork for it it's no problem. I had two silencers with me aswell so a grand total...

What is a trophy and what falls short?

Don't get me wrong, I won't enjoy shooting an old 38" kudu bull as a trophy just because he is very old. That is a clear cut cull animal for me. But I very much prefer shooting a 50" kudu with well worn down tips over shooting a 52" kudu with sharp points even if I would take both when the...

    Muzzle Brake?

I have used muzzle brakes while hunting and I will never do so again! For some reason that shot oppurtunity always comes when you are busy rearranging your hearing protection. That said I do like to have a muzzle brake on the big bores while developing a load. Shooting 40-50rnds of anything...

    Left Handed shooters club!

It was Blaser CDP 156gr Left handed ammo ;) Yeah I am over the moon with this rifle! Just love to tinker I guess.. Might be able to turn it into a 1/4 moa rifle with some tinkering with the ammo :) I wonder if they would make a 470Ne barrel for this... Might be a bit stiff on recoil though!

Very nice rifles Brett Becker! Looks like that young fella is a really talented engraver! Had time to shoot my K95 today and I am absolutely stunned! First three shots after zeroing measured a group of 15mm @ 100m. So a sub 1/2moa rifle with the first factory ammo I ran through it... I am so...

    Taxidermy gone wrong...

Everything was sent/recieved as seen in the photos. That Nyala mount is a disgrace tbh. The parts of the tusks...
