    Professional Hunter Gun Safety

Doubles will always be the challenge in these situations as @IvW has mentioned. They are loaded or they not and when they are not then there is a lot more to do. I found it safer and more relaxing to use a sling for the general walking and following of spoor. Once the stalk started or we entered...

    Hunting In Sandels?

Definitely depend so on the area. I had watched to many videos of PHS in sandels and decided to use a pair of easy slip on moccasins style shoes which I know are stealthy:A Outta: My PH mate laughed at me and said when the first spikey thorn effort dropped into the open top I wouldn't be...

So the two inners running at 2,080fps The outers at 2,130fps. All 480g Woodliegh softs, just asking myself if I didnt pull that last shot giving a wider regulation:( Guess I will have to redo it! Although I wouldn't be happier with 2,150 than 2,080fps........ will the Buffalo know the difference ?

    Double round holder

Came with my double o/u Aluminum with two clips from an MAG belt riveted on Simply drop them in and 'break them off' Fun for the range but they fell out my pocket during a buffalo stalk involving a belly crawl. Probably just need to work on a better pocket or belt holder.

    Loading for a double

My 450 NE 31/4" shoots 450g TSX and 500g Hornady on the same regulation with the same charge. These were developed after purchase as the rifle came with no data. I have also managed to get the same out of 350g Hornady and Swift Aframe. It is all about the speed I found, or I was just...

Rifle Lessons Learned from the Zimbabwe Professional Hunter Proficiency Exam

I was cycling my 1928 Mauser yesterday, thinking of those who were taking the test. I tried to go as fast as I could whilst maintaining the rifle in my shoulder and noticed that due to the old age wear on the bolt it is not as smooth as one needs. If not properly aligned, the 'wiggle' in the...

    Zimbabwe currency

Not usually very easy since USD notes are in short supply - it is simply an electronic number in our accounts. Banks limit the drawings now to $50 in USD per day and $100 in bond notes per day. Bond are in coins ranging up to a $2 and $5 note. Use them for tips as locals will use them easily...

US Dollars - smaller denominations makes it easier and ensures that you will not end up with too much bond notes for change. US coins do Not work though. But twenties, tens, fives, twos and ones are all good.

Drilling or Combo gun as an alternative to a Double for Plains Game?

Thank you for that @DUGABOY1 I always thought Cape Gun referred to the style and of course the Cape Since mine had the reference to the Cape Town and the similar lines I assumed it was such. So Cape Guns can only be double barrels ?

My wife takes a lot of pictures and yes the 70-200mm or if you can squeeze a 300mm is the most versatile especially with wildlife . She has a large 400mm that only comes out on special occasions She now wants the 800mm.

Best double rifle for the money $$

I have an O/U Merkel in 450NE With ejectors. Not my first choice as nostalgia would rather have a classic SxS. But hey I am not complaining - doubles a double and regulation is so much easier making longer shots possible, I can still hit 1" at 100 metres. Going to try out to 150m with...
