    20,000 Elephants To Germany!

@ Luederitz: that's exactly how it is in "Good old Germany" of today! But be careful to underestimate the 'Crats in Brussels - they can do a lot of harm to trophy importation. So we have to oppose these plans from the beginning- to start with of course not vote for these green morons at the...

Rigby Highland Stalker vs. Mauser 98 Standard Diplomat vs. Blaser R8

Rigby is overpriced, trying to justify this by claiming to be part of a tradition that has expired long ago. As to Blaser, I agree with Major Bonkers. I'd rather miss with a Mauser than hit with a Blaser ;). Buy a good old Mauser System and have it put into a custom made Rifle Stock.

    Big bore recoil

As you are unimpressed by the relatively nasty 8x68 S my guess would be that your friend's 458 Win must have been too light, or the butt did not fit your shoulder - or it actually was a .458 Lott. Secondary Safeties on Dangerous Game rifles?

Usually one safety is enough - that is, if it is a real safety that blocks the firing pin and not only the trigger. Automatic safety on double rifles is a much discussed topic - I personally do not like it, as in the heat of the hunt you might forget it and try to pull the trigger in vain...

@grand veneur: being from Europe as well I am afraid that the stark facts might be somewhat different. TheTop Red deer will very soon be shot, unless the hunter is sure that nobody else can shoot it. And Elefant tusks already are priced according to weight, as any given pricelist will show...

Making the SCI (or RW) Record Books? How easy is it, really?

#JPmbogo: That is true and a little bit simplistic as well. It depends on how you rate a hunt. Just to shoot anything that has the misfortune to come close enough to your rifle, as long as a good stalk took place before, for me is just half of the truth. Knowing the minimum at RW shows you what...

Making the SCI (or RW) Record Books? How easy is it, really?

And the comparison between SCI and RW is difficult anyway due to the very different methods of measurement. But for all carnivores for example you simply measure the lenght of the skull, the width of it and then add these measures - and that's it for RW and SCI alike. For SCI the Minimum is...
