300 grain is plenty. I used them for one shot kill on my bull.

The .375 will be good for both with good bullets like Barnes. I have shot everything from Elephant to Springbok with the .375. don't need a bigger one or a smaller one. Bullet weights from 300 to 230 grain. Hydro solids for elephant.

Used .375 H&H w/235 grain Barnes Bullets loaded by Double Tap. One shot stone dead. Over 3000 FPS, just a hair over 5000 ME. Used the same gun on buffalo and elephant with not issues. It is always about bullet placement.

The reasons I hunt are like making stew. One part food, one part challenge and a large portion of interacting with wild things in wild places. Cook slowly over an open fire for years then simmer as you age. The taste can be savored for a lifetime.
