This right here. Some one probably replaced the original extractor and it just needs a little bit of fitting. No big deal at all. Mauser extractors are a pain in the butt. .

500 Grainers just aren't necessary with todays bullets........CEB and Barnes monos especaially. I like the 450 grain in both the Lott and the Win Mag. 2200fps is eay with either in the win mag and can go really good in the Lott!

The edge off the extractor has chipped. None of mine look remotely like that, and yes. That certainly can cause feeding issues. I have handled many and never once seen one with a feeding issue. Every one I have touched has fed and functioned well........just my .02cents worth. .

Offset rings would be my answer. .

I have threaded several barrels for suppressors, I have only had to remove the barrel for one........it was very short. Every rifle I own that shoots suppressed has a different point of impact suppressor on and suppressor off. As was said before, never, ever, ever, use a die to thread a barrel!

If you hunt in the "Red Zone" in South Africa ( greater Kruger areas ) your trophies have a 90 day quarantine before they can be moved out of the "red zone" to a taxidermist. Then you get to start all the other bureaucratic and EXPENSIVE stuff.

I have both the 375 and 458, both have been shot a bunch. Both have the additional recoil lug on the barrel, neither have cracked stocks. Both are extremely accurate as well. .

To get back to the OP...... It is a very simple thing to do what you ask...changing a Winchester type safety back to the original mausers flag type. All you need is an original 98 shroud and a flag type safety lever and probably but not certainly a replacement cocking piece. All readily...

To take it even one step further.... most Winchester style side swing safeties fitted to a mauser are not really three position at all. They are two position. While they are two position they "can" be left in a middle position, sorta...... Making them much less safe than the original flag type...

I have recently been working up subsonic loads for 308 using Trail boss and TiteGroup with 170gr Sieerra flat noses. 30-30 bullets. I have gotten loads with each that come in right about an inch at 100 yards.

I have had two 470NE doubles and I do believe if I had it to do over again I would have gone with the 450NE. For the reasons you pointed out but also in the same weight bullet you are gonna get...

I think you are gonna find those RSMs keep going up and up, since Ruger discontinued them. $2000.00 really isn't that high for what you are getting, try building something like that for $2000....... All that being said....Collectors ain't known for a "bargain seller", they do have stuff you...

I have probably 30 Leupolds over about 35 years and have used 'em and still use 'em on rifles up to 458 lott and one on a 8 1/2lb. 470 NE. Only ever had one let loose..... The few Nikons I tried had great glass but the "scope" part was just junk......... They wouldn't track or hold zero. Maybe...

The recoil from the Rigby is gonna be a step up from your .375. Not bad but up. Don't plan on shooting it a bunch at first. Work your way up slowly maybe 5 rounds the first few trips and shoot a small bore afterwards to keep the "flinchitis" at bay. Stay off the bench for a while too. Stand up...

I have seen a stock broken by a lead sled and I have seen a scope that let loose on a lead sled, I won't use one. Maybe I'm recoil tolerant ( i don't really believe so) but when I shoot a big rifle off the bench like a Lott or a 470, I just sit lower where my body is in a more upright position...

That's the way I am looking at it! South Africa is great but with all the game ranching and moving animals everywhere it kinda puts me off. I don't want to shoot a Lechwe in the East Cape. Or a buff in the Kalahari. We are all different

Everytime I see the Ruger guys I give 'em grief about discontinuing the RSM for those Hawkeyes......and the new Hawkeyes with that God awful brake????
