I own a 500 3" NE Heym. I use it for backup on Big 5 . It also took a while for me to decide . 500 is a lot of gun and I think in your case the 450/400 would be fine for anything on the planet. Remember its not the size of the gun but rather shot placement. 450/400 was Pondoro Taylor's favourite...
Finally have that 500 in my hands. It was quite a journey but its here in South Africa. I will post some pics. Have put 20 rounds through it and shoot like a dandy.
I am jealous as I bought a Heym 88B PH and paying quit an amount of money got a crappy gun case, or at least not what one expects for the quality gun workmanship. So I am building a similar case, obviously not in the same class. Surely these gun makers can make some effort in a decent gun case...
I have a 450 Rigby on a CZ ZZK602 action. It has served me as backup for 15 years and I will not swop it for anything. Recoil is high but you get use to it. If you shoot a buff or Ele recoil is not felt . Its only at the bench that it's felt and you are not going to sit at the bench and shoot 20...

I have finally ordered a Heym B88PH in 500NE from Chris Sells of Heym USA. Has anyone imported a rifle from abroad. Its still being finished in the Heym Factory but I have been checking on import Duty's, Vat etc. which seem to be astronomical.
Would like some comments in this regard
