375 H&H Sako Kodiak For Sale

To anyone interested. I did find the factory box for the Kodiak that I have up for sale. It was up in my attic, right where I thought it was. Gun and box look new, everything that came with the gun is included.

How much are you asking for that Capstick??
  16. Honeybadger

375 H&H Sako Kodiak For Sale

Well, I need the cash from this one to put towards the next one. So until someone buys this one, my hands are tied on making any moves. Hopefully this gets snapped up pretty soon. Am I asking a fair price $$$???

375 H&H Sako Kodiak For Sale

Yeah, probably either a 470 Capstick, 500 Jeffery, or a 505 Gibbs. And I REALLY want something with a quarter rib, so that I can run a quick disconnect scout scope. That's what I'm really after. I hope someone here can make a good home for this Kodiak though.

Best way to drill my stock??

Guys, I have decided to leave this gun un-modified. Reason being, I have decided to sell it, it just is not the right gun for my needs. I have posted it up for sale in the free classifieds section. If you're interested, PM me.

375 H&H Sako Kodiak For Sale

Guys, I have decided to put my Sako Kodiak chambered in 375 H&H up for sale. I like the rifle, but it just is not suited optimally for my needs. I had planned on leaving it open sights, but then decided that I definitely needed a scope on the rifle to suit my intended purpose. Dropping the cash...

458 Lott, should I go custom??

I am still considering a bolt gun from AHR for sure. But, I am leaning toward a Krieghoff now. They are made in my home state, and let's face it, double guns are awesome!!!

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Those are made in my home state, only a 5 hour drive. Man, you've got me wanting to go the extra mile now, order one, and pick it up in person!!!
  23. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Are those Krieghoff rifles usually available around that price?? Also, are they a good quality rifle??
  24. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

I want a bolt gun with some repeatable power, or better yet, a 500 nitro double!!! That's like 16k though, I can get the bolt gun for around 7k.
  25. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Why wouldn't you use it?? Cause Norma 458 Lott brass is waaaaay better than quality cartridge?? Also could I get a die to form the brass, or would I fire form it??
  26. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Can anyone hook me up with a line on the very best quality brass for this caliber. I can't seem to find it available from my go to company, Norma. Also, I'd appreciate any load data you fellas can send my way.
  27. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

As far as I'm concerned, it's settled. I'm going with the 470 Capstick. Maximum power and shock that the 375 H&H parent case can deliver, and 5 in the magazine box!!! I can't think of a better do all heavy/dangerous game cartridge. And I can load .475 pistol bullets, and take medium game. I...

458 Lott, should I go custom??

@matt85 Good point, I didn't even think about the Capstick. I am going to take a good hard look at it tonight, thanks for the suggestion.
  29. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Yeah, it's a definite possibility. He told me he is running about 6 months out right now. So I'll try to make it out there as soon as I have enough for the initial 50% down.
  30. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Yeah, I'm hoping he talks me through how to measure for ideal fit. I live FAR away from him, and probably won't be able to make a trip to his place to be measured.

Best way to drill my stock??

    Thanks for the pointers
  32. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Part of me is really still considering having him do the rifle in the Jeffery, for the sheer stopping power. And with 600 grn softs and solids at 2150 fps in a 12lb rifle, I really don't think recoil would be much to even notice off hand. What do you guys think, Lott or Jeffery??

Best way to drill my stock??

I like a gun with some heft, it feels very light.

Best way to drill my stock??

Hey guys, I wanna add some weight to the butt of my Sako Kodiak. I realize this will be a pain to do because the Sako butt pad looks to be a real bear to get off. What is the best way to get the pad off, as well as drill the holes?? I really don't wanna ruin my stock.
  36. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

    Recoil is no problem
  37. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Yeah, I plan on having the rifle specced out to come in at 12lbs. I like a heavy rifle, so I'm sure it would be pretty mild recoil. Which will be nice actually, it will make extended range sessions a lot of fun.
  38. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Hmmmm, interesting. As I am NOT going to use a break, or even have the rifle set up for the option of one. Wouldn't recoil with a short barrel of say between 20" and 22" be much more snappy, muzzle rise comes to mind, am I wrong??
  39. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Yeah, probably nothing. I'd like to go shorter, like 22". But I think I'd regret it in the long run. The rifle would probably be a little faster handling, but it would definitely suffer some performance loss in terms of FPS, at least I'd think so.
  40. Honeybadger

458 Lott, should I go custom??

@matt85 I think I'll go ahead and go that route. I've always wanted a truly nice custom rifle. It will be a few months till I call him again and put in the order. I actually spoke to him about this last week. I'm gonna go with the quarter rib and either a scout scope from leupold, or his red...

458 Lott, should I go custom??

I'd have no problem shooting a half incher accurately. I am just wondering if it's worth it. The 458 is far more versatile for me, no doubt. I'd love to drop the cash on a rifle from AHR. But if a factory CZ would be just as reliable, I'd be tempted to just order one up as a "working mans...

458 Lott, should I go custom??

Guys, I own a 458 Lott in a Ruger No. 1, and I love the caliber. I am thinking of adding a bolt action in this caliber to my collection. My question is this. Should I spend big bucks for a fully custom rifle, or would an off the shelf rifle in this caliber give me everything I need?? How good...

    Bought a Sako Kodiak!!!!!

Awesome, glad to hear you fellas seem to like them..............I know Sako's are supposed to be super smooth........and I have handled several of smaller calibers before......I must say the actions were quite smooth. I am hoping it is fast handling and with good point-ability and shoot-ability...

  48. Honeybadger

Just Bought a Sako Brown Bear XL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you very much. I'll be sticking with a 600 Grain Woodleigh going 2130 fps........give or take a few fps or course. That will generate around 6050 ft lbs of energy.......which should be plenty for anything on this Earth.

    Nickel Plated Brass?!?!?!?

    Nickel Plated Brass?!?!?!?

I'm sure it should feed fine........maybe even better than if you would use standard dies. I always use neck size dies when I can. If I only have one gun, in a certain caliber, and I know that the brass I'll be loading will only ever go into that gun, no other guns I own, and no other guns a...
