Have owned both rifles. I sold the Sako, I wanted to like the rifle but couldn't warm to it. I still have 3 Model 70 Magnums. I have no preference for manufacturers but prefer to use the Winchester.
Thanks for your input gents. Von Gruff is 100% correct about the debacle of Australian firearms restrictions. [emoji849] I have a great stock maker secured here in Australia with a lovely exhibition grade English Walnut blank. My post is more about rifle furnishings I know nothing about and what...
Ladies and Gents, I am in the process of upgrading my Winchester M70SE in .375HH (not pre 64) and I have no real experience with high end firearms. I have never owed a firearm of this stature and have decided to upgrade what I already have to a price point that I can afford.
Now whist I love...
I have the exact rifle you are talking about. Only hunted in Australia and I have absolutely no regrets, it is my favorite rifle. I would consider bedding the rifle. Off the bench I shoot through the same hole at 50m. (Handloads). Don't give it another thought, grab it.

We use those bullets all the time on water buffalo / banteng in northern Australia. I have not used them personally but the reviews are very good. Nobody has a bad thing to say about them. They would be my first choice for hunting the big bovines. Best of luck.
Sorry I've been away from my computer a few days guys, got a few more pics of the hunt for you! Nice kudu, measured just over 50", very happy with him. Not too sure on the measurements of the warthog but he looks great. Long red mane - looks like a mullet haircut Billy-Ray Cyrus style! The...

Well, I have just returned home to rural South Australia. What a trip. I have been a long way from home for the last month.
My journey started in late 2015, my favorite aunt unexpectedly died and bequeathed me nearly enough money for an African plains game safari. The old girl liked an...
