Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Shoedog
The whole process of getting a tag is pretty involved so I would want to work with an outfitter who could either take care of that aspect of the hunt or be willing to walk me through it
I figured a guided hunt would run 5k each plus tags
Would not want a fenced hunt
As far as lodging I’m not...
Guided and ideally a bull but would consider a cow or maybe one of each
I am flexible as I know it isn’t always possible to get what you where you want in Elk hunting
I am looking for an Elk hunt for my 12 year old son and myself
I am not set on any state in particular but would like a hunt with decent odds
I would be open to a youth hunt with me as an observer
I know there are many variables and different types of hunts so I would appreciate any advice...
Welcome GeorgiaJohn,
I suggest you start reading the hunt reports here to find out the experiences others have had with outfitters.
That is what I did and had an excellent time with Marius at KMG.He and his crew are professional to the last detail in my experience.
The planning and due diligence...
Great prices from a great outfitter!
They will treat you great and make sure you have a good time.
I brought my family to hunt the Eastern Cape with Marius and the crew and we all have wonderful memories for sure.
I would jump on the Bontebok a very handsome animal.
I think the biggest danger is suffering permanent hearing loss from the high pitched liberal whining.
I celebrated the inauguration by purchasing another Remington 700 in 35 Whelen
While Trump is far from perfect he is far less imperfect than HRC and hopefully we will see some push back on the...
I have a Remington 700 in 375 HH with a VX-R on it and I went with a firedot duplex.I sighted it in 2.5 inches high at 100 yds and shot animals out to 250 with no problem.Keep It Simple Sammy-worked for me.
I will also tell you that I have one pin on my bow.
I killed many rabbits and squirrels with my older brothers 410 22lr.A friend of mine found one just like it which now belongs to my son.
I think a 30 30 in a 24 is not very common,I would buy it in a heartbeat if it is in decent condition.
Some people don't like the looks of them but they...
After careful consideration I have pulled the trigger on the Leica ERi 2.5-10 42.
I am not sure if there is a bad scope in this price point. At a grand I think it should be a good value,Im not sure why they are so heavily discounted but so be it.
Thanks for all the advice it was a fun...
I actually like that reticle with the circl,e I use it as a peep sight. If I am target shooting at a round target I adjust the power until the circle part of the reticle is just a bit larger than the target. That way you will have a circle around a circle and you don't even need to look at the...
Looks like you have a winner Scott.
Now that you are on paper its time to move to the sticks for the sake of your shoulder .
I use a Past recoil harness which helps if you are going to shoot a lot of rounds.
Good luck with it!
Super nice gun in a great caliber.I picked one up in 243 for my son to shoot.I think it happens to be a great gun for youth shooters as well.It is a" must own " in my mind.
I will echo enysse's opinion on the Redfield scope though.I bought one and it was fine picked up another and is blurry at...
It looks like everyone agrees that a illuminated center dot is desireable as we can assume it will be either a low light situation or a case where a spotlight will be used and fast target acquisition will be necessary.
The whole exit pupil thing is a bit confusing and I think I need to study it...
You will have a great time with Marius and his crew.
You might want to practice shooting off sticks.I took most shots either sitting or kneeling off sticks due to the low brush which does not allow much in the way of standing shots.
Marius has a bipod set of sticks which he prefers for some...
I have heard good things about the 56 mm Trijicon for low light conditions. It seems like a good choice for a specific type of use.
"Horses for courses" as they say
I used a Remington 700 in .375 Holland and Holland. Zebra Waterbuck Kudu and Impala with one bullet a piece so I was pleased with it.My trip to Africa gave me an excellent excuse to buy it and I tend to like tradition so the H&H was an easy choice.Scope was Leupold VX-R 3-9 with Firedot.
Barnes...
I am contemplating a new scope purchase and was interested in opinions on what other hunters have liked for Leopard.I know some countries don't allow night hunting but the chances of shooting one in broad daylight are probably slim.I am actually just dreaming at this point (about the hunt, not...
If a boot was not designed to be waterproof it will never be.All the stitching holes are perfect capillaries to conduct water droplets inside the footwear. It appears the Courtney is a stitchdown type construction which is made without a welt, the upper leather is simply sewn through to the...
