I have been looking for a gunsmith to do a bit of work on my Remington 700 CDL in 300 win mag and was wondering if someone here could recommend a shop. I bought the gun in 2007 (was the first firearm I purchased) and just want to give it a bit of an update. I've been hunting mainly in the...
Yeah every gun likes something different. Had a buddy try that load in his 700 with a heavier contour barrel and a bit shorther (I think 24") and was getting 2" groups. If I do my part I can put 4 holes in 0.7".
I don't push velocity with mine but 68 grains of RL17 with 180 accubonds gives me 2975fps out of my 26" rem 700. Sub MOA groups, most accurate load I have shot through it.
Yesterday wife asked if I could take the kid out so she could get the house ready for Thanksgiving.
I had no intention of even chambering a round then this guy walked out and I was glad I brought hearing protection for the kid...
Culled a piebald out of Eastern NC. Not a ton of white on him but with the forked beam and missing front upper teeth no doubt needed to be removed from the gene pool. Seems to be more and more around....
Such a hard question to answer... To much sentiment in some guns for sure, but thinking practically:
700 CDL in 300 win mag
Winchester 77 .22lr (I have the 15 round tube model)
Kimber Raptor 1911 with 3" barrel .45acp
This is provided I can still hunt turkeys with a bow so don't "need" a...

From someone that does a lot of flying this one goes with me everywhere. Can customize it a bit to meet your needs as well if you want to use it as a day pack with the MOLLE. They make one with out the laptop compartment as well if that doesn't interest you, but...
How do you like that Ruger American in 6.5? I was looking at it at my local gun shop last week. Was wondering about performance of such an accurate round out of a "budget" rifle. Looks like it got the job done though!
Been bow hunting for 9 seasons now, I've shot 4 does and missed a buck back in 2011 that I misjudged the distance on.
Well this year paid off. Have a stand I have been hunting for 3 years now that I have passed on several smaller bucks at (land I hunt has 15inch inside spread limit), pretty...
I have a Monarch 4x16 on my 300wm. It is a nice scope for the money but will probably eventually mount a leapold on it. I have the BDC redical on mine which is pretty much useless as if I am looking at a deer at 500 yards it takes up almost the entire circle. I like leapould's BDC equivalent...
200 lbs boar at 5 yards. I had stalked him into some tall swamp grass I could hear him but couldn't see him. We'll he knew I was there and came charging out at me. One quick shot from my 300, didn't even have time to put my scope on him, he was done but neither me nor him knew it. By the...
Firedot 4 is great I have one in my VX-R on my 375 Ruger. Very quick target acquisition. I'll see if I can find a picture through the scope. I know I have one somewhere. The heavy part seems to stand out well to me but still gives you the whole picture.
Yeah I here yeah. Jobs are pretty scares in the seismic industry right now. Really hoping for a turn around soon but looks like we are going to have to hold on a while longer.
This is interesting...
I am an offshore navigation technician for a oil and gas exploration (seismic for those of you who work in oil and gas) company.
Thanks for the input guys. I have some 300 grain partitions sitting around that I've been meaning to try out just haven't gotten around to it. Wold probably go for 2 of those followed by a solid from what you all are telling me. I'm a couple of years away still of being able to finance a...
Was looking for information on the .375 Ruger and buffalo. Anyone have any more experiences to share with that? I do hand load so I would like to here your results if you got them. Trying to decide if I am ok with what I got or I should start looking at a bigger cal.
What do you mean about "evenly spaced" just trying to think of my VX-R. Should just be a contact spring you lay the battery on top of then put the cap on. But may be different with the VX-6 I'm not sure. Can you take a picture with the cap off and the battery in? I would post a picture of...
Man I was looking at going for the VX-6 but ended up getting the VX-R and putting away the extra $500 towards the future hunt. Sorry that happened usually Leapold doesn't let down. I have had good help with their customer service in the past though so might be worth going straight to them...
