Maybe the best explanation was that the armourer was clueless, riding on daddy’s coattails, and the rest of the stereotypical Hollywood liberals on site knew no more than her - she was the “expert”. Sadly, I think that is the only logical explanation short of murder.
Sadly poetic that...
He is a liberal POS. Still, I have a hard time believing that he intended this (thus the “involuntary” manslaughter charge?).
He lied. The gun did not go off by itself. On a single action revolver, the hammer needs to be cocked before the pulling the trigger will do anything. Cocking the...
I emailed Duane Wiebe a few days ago to see if he still made the mag boxes. Unfortunately, he indicated that he does not. It would seem a much easier and cost effective way of adding a round to the mag rather than Sunny Hill drop magazine and full restock.
Custom African Express would be my “dream” rifle, other than some kind of a double anyway. I have considered having my Safari express restocked with a drop magazine to kind of duplicate the African Express. Don’t really care about leaf sights on a 416.
I can’t really say that I don’t like the other models, but I have 7 (?…let me count) of the “Classics” from New Haven. Of those, my favorites are the Classic Stainless, of which I have four.
I had a 7mm-08 BACO, which left me a little cold. Sold it because I had a 7mm-08 Classic Compact and...
I am a newbie, and I’m sure this is a dumb question, but it seems like maybe shipping would be cheaper with a large, economies-of-scale company? Does FedEx fly from South Africa and will they ship trophies?
Maybe a better way to ask that question is, as a client, do you glass enough in low light to justify the extra weight of 40mm vs 32mm? 8x32 is nothing for weight.
I suppose 8x vs 10x is dependent upon terrain/vegetation.
A question for those you that use binos in Africa, often 8x30-32 are super light/convenient, and least “noticeable” to carry. 8x40 are very good for low light, and 10x40 are better for longer distance. Which do you recommend?
Hmmm, it is interesting that the 450 and 470 cartridges both shoot bullets in the 480-500 grain range.
Is one considered superior to the other - I suppose the 458 bullets penetrate better and the 470s have larger frontal area?
Sorry, not to steal the thread. I’ve never shot anything bigger than a 338 and have never touched a double rifle.
Does the fact that the 476 Nitro/Westley Richard’s uses a 520 grain bullet, thus higher sectional density, give it any real advantage over the other 470 +/- or 450 Nitro cartridges?
I think once the 35 Whelen beats the 338 WM into a bloody pulp, it is going to set is sights on the 470 NE!!!
just kidding, Bob.
I love M70s. This weekend I was in a local Scheels store, which is a pretty good sized “premium” sporting goods chain in the central/western US. Not a single...
I’m sorry, you sure did. Would you be comfortable to share the charge? I haven’t seen one that good from Reloader 22 in the manuals. I understand if you aren’t.
Looking at some of the load data, I wonder if ‘26 may actually be a little faster than ‘22?? Like I said, I have seen really...
No, it would be mid-late 1990s vintage. Stainless steel/walnut sporter.
I have have seven of the “classic” M70s - 243, 25-06, 270, 7mm-08, 7mm Rem Mag, 338 Win Mag, 416 Rem Mag.
I would like to get an Alaskan In 375 H&H!
I just starting working with my M70 338. I’m not home right now, so I can’t give you hard numbers. Speer has some really great load data with Reloader 26 and a 250 grain.
I am well under their max charge and pushing 2800 with a 250 gr partition. No pressure signs at all, but the velocity...
Thank you all for your friendly advice and I have receieved a couple messages I will be responding to
After giving it some more thought, I think maybe I would just do one or the other the first time. If I get to go back again, I could possibly try to double up.
I think the two most...
Wow!
I haven’t been “on” in a couple days but what an unbelievable response. I am still digesting all of this, but thank you all for for generosity of knowledge and time to respond.
Thank you all so much for the advice. As I was researching last night, I did see that black-faced Impala can’t be imported into the US.
If I went to Namibia only, what do you feel are the “must do” things and which species should be keyed upon?
Hello, first time post. I live in the US, have never been to Africa. It has been an ambition/dream to hunt there for many years. I am considering my first African hunting trip in 2022 or 2023. I have read before that since so many flights from the US arrive in South Africa, that it makes...
