I have the same model 26 Heym but in my case it is a so called BBF, or Bockbüchsflinte which is german for a rifled barrel and a smooth bore barrel in the same gun. Mine is built on order by me in 20/76 and .22 Hornet especially for hunting black grouse and capercaille with a tree barking dog...

My doublerifle in .375 Flanged Magnum regulating load is at 2455 fps according to my chronograph with 300 grains Hornady DGX Bonded using Norma cases, Federal 215 LRM and Vihtavuori N160 gun powder. Unfortunately I have yet to try it in practical hunting on anything larger then a swedish bull...

The best wood on a gun which I actually own is on my double rifle. My main shotgun, a Browning B525 The Crown also has some nice wood, but not really the shame luster to it, needs some oil I think. The newest acquisition also have nice wood, a kipplauf rifle but this one has yet to come home...

I went with the .375 Flanged Magnum for my double rifle, mostly because swedish gun legislation forces you to make do with 4-6 rifles and shotguns and this has to work for domestic hunt on moose, driven boar, brown bears and elk because I need the other spots for other guns for upland hunting...

When I reloaded that calibre I used Hornadys 8x57 Mauser die with the shellholder for 8x57JRS.

When I have saved up enough money for a trip to Africa I intend to do just that.

I went with only one double rifle in .375 Flanged Magnum to do it all, including domestic moose, elk, fallow deer, brown bears and wild boars, mostly because of the gun laws here in Sweden which does not allow for more then 6 guns for hunting. And I need the other five spots for shotguns...

I have a Merkel K5 model Jagd but if Heym had one when I ordered the Merkel I would have gone with Heym.

I have read somewhere that they might be building a kipplauf on the 26B on custom order but I cant seem to find it now.

I dont think Heym makes singleshots, at least there are none in the catalogue.

I must have read the specs wrong then, I just checked and with the bullet seated there is unfortunately only 11 mm clear space above.

Hornady's Iron Press has no problems with my .375 Flanged Magnum which is not that much shorter then the .500/.416 if memory serves.

I can hunt on about 5000 acres just outside my front door. However the bigger areas of about 160 000 acres of hunting grounds that I have hunting rights on are about 75 miles away from my house, which is a 2 hour drive.

About 2430 fps or 739 mps using a Caldwell chronograph. The bullets are 300 grains DGX as you guessed. My double rifle has 24 inch barrels.

I am loading mine with 77 grains of Vihtavuori N160, Norma cases, Federal 215 Large Magnum Rifle and Hornady DGX Bonded.

If I understand it correctly the .416 No 2 is exactly the same case as the regular .416 Rigby aside for the addition of the rim/flange. The .500/.416 on the other hand is a much larger case and therefore brings lower pressure to the table?

If one for some reason would like a double rifle in .500 Jeffery I saw this Zanardini at Dorleac & Dorleac, a nice looking gun but perhaps the rebated rim would make extraction even harder then a regular rimless caliber in a double rifle...
