I wouldnt go in the Fall for Rie bucks - go for the rut in late July /early Aug. Fallow would not be my choice for Scotland either. Id go for Reds, as others have said you can find reasonably priced stalking but shooting a trophy stag is not normally allowed.

There is not a single month of the year that there isnt a deer species in season in the UK and we have 6 different species of deer. 2 of which cant be hunted elsewhere. We also have no quotas or bag limits.

Scotland is high fence? I think not... And when you say the rest of Europe too... where do you get this info from? As someone who has hunted all over UK and Europe I can promise you that is not true. Can you do high fence? Yes. Is it the norm? No.

If you want to hunt a red stag in its natural environment, no fences, etc then head to Europe - Romania or Hungary are good options. PM me if you want any pointers. Scotland is also an option for the 'highland experience'.

In Europe we dont use SCI scoring, we use CIC method. In CIC scoring, weight is the main driver in the score and thus is the most common method of pricing animals across Europe. You will find though that most outfitters will be willing to do a 'package'. Hope this helps. This might be useful -...

If you dont sort something, its a short flight to the UK and lots of deer stalking available and no paper work needed.

If you're going to Ireland then you need to go after Sika. John "Sika" Fenton, Jim Nolan in Glacial Valley Hunting and Norman Mulvaney are all recommended from reports I see. Do your research - lots of chancers out there.

Roe deer bucks season ends Oct 31st. However, Roe does are in season. I would suggest looking at doing a Muntjac and Chinese Water Deer hunt as these are two species you wont be able to hunt elsewhere. Fallow bucks and Red stags in season too but speaking honestly id head somewhere like Hungary...

Agreed. As weight is also the largest determining factor in score, its never usually far out charging by weight compared to what it will then score CIC method.

Have a look here on the CIC website for some info - http://www.cicukteb.com/uk-species/index. It depends on species as to whats important - Red deer, Roe deer weight is really important. However, Muntjac and Sika for example its all about length of beams / tines.
