My 2 cents on this as the same thing happened to my wife and I last year at an SCI auction. My wife after a little to much Chardonnay bought a very similar hunt that included a $3,000 credit to animals taken for $800. The outfitter was Ubathi and after inquiring about the price list I quickly...
I like the idea of leaving a suppressor in Africa but I don't always go back to the same people or countries although I almost always go through Johannesburg . I wonder if one of the companies out of Johannesburg (like Rifle Permits) would store your suppressor for you obviously for a fee?

Well done Tiger Habib! I enjoyed the story and the way in which you explained some of the pitfalls of earlier attempts. I doubt that any of us will ever get the chance to hunt Tigers and it's nice of you to give us a small glimpse into what that's like.

I have found a source of Bertram brass for the 577. They are working to acquire the brass and are coming up with final pricing. I believe they will sell in 100 piece increments and at a price between $9 and $10 per piece. Will know more next week but am told they will acquire 1000 pieces of...
I have decided to sell the Blaser R8 that I purchased on here about a year ago for $8,500. The Blaser comes with everything you see (barrels are 375 H&H and 300 Win Mag) and includes 5 boxes of Hornady 300 Grain DGX - Bonded ammunition 375 H&H. Nothing wrong with the rifle just need to make...
I’m told by Chris at Heym that the completed rifle will be close to 13 pounds which is about right for this caliber. My 470 NE is 11.5 pounds. It’s all about balance, fit, and and shooting comfort.
I’m 5’11” 225 lbs and not recoil sensitive at all. Love shooting my 505 Gibbs and was looking...
Well a funny thing happened on my happy wondering through SCI last week in Nashville. I stopped by the Heym booth and struck up the continued conversation about buying a quality used 577 NE over purchasing a new one fit to my specifications and getting the new one won out.
I ordered a new Heym...
You are correct sir. This is also the company that Heym uses when they test fire the 577 and is who I am going through to get brass. I appreciate you chasing this down for me.

I appreciate all the very knowledgeable and rapid responses. Fortunately I will be getting some brass with the rifle purchase. More to follow in that regard.

I have followed up 2 wounded buffalos in my hunting time. First was with a 470 NE and the second was with a 505 Gibbs. Both times I was following up my own shots that later were shown to be in the boiler maker. Sometimes Capes just don’t know when to die. I was happy to have a large caliber for...
That’s what the program usually looks like in Sonora. Quick shots with very little time to judge for trophy quality. Lots of coyote damage to the deer population over there with almost no predator control whatsoever.
Be thankful you got a decent Mule deer and think hard about going back with...
I have a funny side story about eating with the locals...It was in Tanzania and around my 7th or 8th day of Safari I would notice that the trackers, game scouts and support staff would move about 50 yards away during lunch time, start a fire, and get after a pot of stew as I would have a picnic...
Here are a couple of pics of my Heym 88B in 470 NE. I was hunting Capes at a pretty good clip at this time in my life taking 3-4 per year with the double. Mostly in Tanzania and Zambia.

Here is another shout out to Van at Top Dog Guns Global. He has helped me on numerous occasions including a situation that was clearly not his or Blaser’s fault with no charge. He is a true gentlemen and I highly recommend him.

I believe its the same thing. Because of the slight curve to the magazine it developed the nickname Banana. Typically we tape 2 of these together.
Now that you know what I'm speaking about what do you think of the question I asked? Is an actor like Stallone or Schwarzenegger believed to have...
While I think Baldwin is a giant a-hole this is a tough one. Totally agree that you should check a weapon but let’s change the scenario up a bit. Now I’m an extra in a Vietnam movie shooting an AK-47 with tapped 30 round banana magazines. Am I supposed to load those 60 rounds of dummy...
Very well said.
I have hunted all over Africa and each area has its own beauty and mystique. Set a budget of what you can afford or are willing to pay and then find the best location that meets the desired animals to be hunted.

Beautiful rifle and while I’ve never shot a Chapuis I have never heard anything bad about them. Lastly the 470 NE is an excellent choice for caliber.

I flew Turkish Business Class to Tanzania and had no issues at all. I remember a 7-8 hour layover on the way back in Istanbul and the airport had plenty of shops and restaurants to occupy my time.

Funny I was just looking at flights in September for JNB and the normally approachable Business class Quatar/Emirates flights are twice as much as American. Will keep watching for a bit but most likely go with American at the current price.
HH
What kind of time frame did they commit to for the run of 20? I was in the booth looking at a custom 577 NE and they were quoting me almost 4 years to completion.
HH
No problem at all and appreciate the discretion. In this case I have no problem letting others know that I’m out.
I have nothing against the seller or gun but have decided to go another route.
