Sometimes you get things right the first time. There really haven't been many legit defensive handgun rounds in the last 100 years either. 357 sig and 40 maybe but that's it. 45 gap doesn't count...... 9mm and .45acp have been around forever and still rule the roost. Not a whole lot of room...

I think it has been suggested but buy several different types of ammo and try them. Rifles can sometimes be picky and love certain ammo and not so much others. Mine prefers heavier bullets and shoots 180 gr the best. The federal trophy copper being especially accurate in it for whatever...

I prefer the .361 pig Hammer myself.

I've done several stocks by light sanding and several coats of boiled linseed oil. It will keep it looking dark the way it is now but it's a good finish. I'm sure there are better woodworkers On here than me that will have good input as well. Cheers 503

That sounds terrible. I'm glad I missed all that. And again, steel works under its limitations however those limitations are severe and I'm tired of having to wait until the birds are at bad breath distance to shoot them because past 30 yards it gets real iffy.

Steel works, we've all killed birds with it. I know what you're saying. Everything has its limits I just want fewer limits on my few hunting days. Cheers

Well the range/ lethality of the shot type is the issue here. It's terrible. Steel is incredibly limiting and even good shots in range have a greater probability of wounding or having a garbage pattern that its not worth it. There are much better options now. I've seen too many birds hit...

A citori is way too nice for me haha. Besides I def need that extra shot the way things go most of the time. I run a franchi affinity and my OG 870. Oddly enough in the 870 I have a factory full choke that's rated for steel and it patterns great with everything. I use it for turkey...

I've killed lots of ducks and geese with steel. Also missed a lot because of it too. It will kill them sure, but its also a pretty big handicap and I also don't like how many birds it ends up crippling

Sell it to one of them and get another SBE, runa dif choke and you're all set

Thats awesome, I can't wait for next season.... in the mean time I'll try a few on crows and see how far out I can get one. That's my practice since I don't get to the skeet range often. I usually don't change chokes in the field, I pattern and see how shells look at different ranges and shoot...

I've used Kent fasteel, dryloks, hevi steel, fiocchi, blue box etc. Pretty much all of it. Some are bettwr than others but all steel has its limitations. I'd rather spend a few extra bucks and know that if I don't get a bird its my fault, not because of the ammo

I'm not trying to shoot that much farther, I just want what I hit to fold up and not take 3 shots to kill. I think the cost per round evens out if you get clean kills with tss vs taking a few rounds per duck or goose with steel

I usually run a kicks full which patterns well with most steel. I agree larger shot is usually better but patterns suffer even at normal ranges. I hit a snow goose at 20 yards with a 3 inch #4 and it went down but was still very alive. #1 steel does well on geese but again, it's annoying to...
