As everyone has said a 7x57 is the bread and butter of African Safaris. Good penetration, heavy bullets and a history behind the rifle and caliber is what makes it so grand. I have been shooting mostly PMP or Federal bullets with it 170g+ but have never had any problems with the 200+ animals...

If a farm is large enough to provide its own ecosystem I think it's fair chase. I would argue that personally I feel like 1200 acres should be the minimum for a farm containing a few different species. I have walked myself to death on 1200 acres before. Fair chase areas also has very few water...

My extractor had a slight bend in it like yours. Never became a problem or showed any sign of trouble. They are well built and can take some punch. Good luck.

Pack your 7x57. It's a favorite among us in Africa and ammo is available everywhere. It will put down everything you plan to hunt also. I have both a 375 H&H and 7x57 but personally think the H&H is too much gun for most plains game. Good luck and best of luck for your planning.
