A little off topic. But I'm planning to be back in Australia in January and then fly back to Tanzania from Melbourne in early February. I'm hoping to bring back another rifle with me when I fly back.
I haven't done this in a long time so I wanted to ask what the process is in Australia in order...
Hi Rover, you should check on the Kenya Airways website for Kenyan regulations.
But basically you need a valid yellow fever card and a COVID vaccination certificate or Covid negative test for both Kenya and Tanzania. I am not sure if you need to still fill in travel severance online form for...
@geoff, im aways up for a good laugh. I'm glad it was of humor to you. At least you now you know where to come looking for that 416 rigby magazine follower and mag box.
@geoff, off topic here. But I supose you could always sell that barrel to me and I could fit it to my RSM 375 h&h as I already have the magazine follower and other bits, if anything to take pitty on me and stop the temptation of having me go out and buy another Rigby Gig Game to Match my 450.
@ Rookhawk.. what a great case and offer.
So verry nice of you to make such an offer to fellow forum members.
I live in Tanzania otherwise I'd be all over this.
Lovely Choice.. it should pair up nicely with your Rigby in 450 rigby. If I were to buy a highland stalker I would choose the 9.3x62.
I'm sure your going to love it.
Pair it up with some 200gr cutting edge loaded to around 2800fps and your good to go for most game excluding Buffalo...
I forgot to.mention if your looking for mono metal in the 9.3mm
Give Cameron from Atomic 29 a call he has projectiles in 9.3 and I picked up a bunch from him those would work ok on buff. Meplat firearm services has Cutting Edge for the 9.3 I think those will all work well in your 9.3 and might...
I wanted to ask if anyone has mounted a Reflex RMR sight to a Rigby Big Game SSB.
I was thinking of doing this but wanted to ask if anyone knows if someone makes a mount that will fit the rear sight dovetail. I wanted a set up that could be easily reversed.
I have one of the Paul Roberts era built Rigby rifles in 450 rimless that was built using a Brno action. The safety on it works in reverse to the normal 602, mine is push forward to fire.
Its a legitimate question.
I have no intention to stir the pot, but we are talking about a difference of $900 (my mistake when I said $1000) per day on the daily rate, multiply that by 21 days and you have difference $18,900.
Plus significant trophy fees and other costs on top of that.
I do not...
How do you justify the $1000 a day difference in daily rate from the lion only hunt to the one with lion, buff, leopard and Sable. They are essentially the same hunt in the same area all with a total of 21 hunting days.
I hunted unit 5 late last year with Martin.
I saw lots of really nice Roan on the block on an almost daily basis.
Whoever takes this hunt is going to shoot a realy great bull.
If your after free range Roan then this is your chace.
@375 Fox.
The Cancelations were the Addis to Vic Fall leg of the flight. I was flying directly to Victoria Falls from Addis, not via Harare. Its interesting that each time that Ethiopian canceled and rescheduled that they would only cancel that part of the flight from adds to Vic Falls but...
I Just got back home last night after hunting Elephant with @MARTIN PIETERS SAFARIS in Matisti unit 5.
After several false starts courtesy of Ethiopian Airways with included 3 flight cancelations to Victoria Falls I finally managed to make to Zim.
Martin was waiting from me as I walked out...
Couldn't agree more.
I off in two weeks to hunt an Elephant bull in Matisti. I Will be Flying Ethiopian into Vic Falls.
I hope they don't keep changing the flight schedule as I have already had one change this past week... Fingers Crossed...
Cheers...
Hi All, I have a former client and friend who I will be hunting Elephant in Zimbabwe next year.
He has asked me if I can help him to find out if he would be able to import his elephant trophy to Italy given that he will be hunting an export Bull.
Would anyone her have any info that I could...
Not to much doing, But, mostly I have been working on rebuilding the Landcruiser. Its now looking much better than when I started 3 or 4 months ago its been my Corona project. This is what it looks like now. I won't share a before photo.
I still have a few things to do on it such as connecting...

The Ballistics tests are so the firearms can supposedly be traced in case of criminal activity.
I had to take my firearms to the police ballistics lab and they carry out the tests.

@ Spike, It should not be an issue to get the rifle from Kenya to TZ then back to Kenya. I can get a temperary permit to possess (TPP) and I still have my Kenyan import export permit, which has no expiry date. I can drive across at Namanga as on the TZ side they don't usefully care, but its...
@Spike, I think they used a crystal ball to decide or pehaps spin the bottle. Because there was no logic to it.
I had to deposit my .416 with a dealer because they struck it off my license. So now if I go out I only have my .223 to sting Buffalos with.
I have a Benelli M4 shotgun with a 14...

Thanks for sharing you grandfathers Firarms Certificate.
You might be interested to learn that the Firarms certificate (License) is still very much physically unchanged in Kenya.
My Firarms certificate looks exactly the same as the on you posted, the wording on the front page is only...
Resident Hunting in Tanzania was closed about two years ago, but was reopened last year.
Hunting is open for some selected open areas from July to December for residents. You will need to have your work permit in Place before you can obtain a hunting license. Last year we could hunt for...
I had seen this rifle for previously sale on the AHR website (for more than the current asking price)
If you check on the AHR website they no longer sell used firearms. I don't think AHR would have offered it up on there website if there was a problem with it. But like the seller says you can...
@ Toby. There you go. It must be in the stars... No use fighting it. I see it comes with quite a bit of factory ammo as well. Its Just was you need to flatten that next Buff.
@ Toby; stop mucking around and just buy this: On GB.

Hi Toby, I am sure you have seen the one listed on GunBroker. Also there is one in 300 Ultra mage listed that would make a nice 404 Jeff conversion.(y)
Very Nice Offer... I want to ask a few questions regarding the hunt offer. When can the hunt be taken: 2019/2020? How large is the area where the hunt will take place and where will the hunt take place. What size trophies would you expect as average.
Look forward to hearing back from you...
Have you had the chance to look at the Real Guns website, they have some date for the 450 Rigby listed which is esentialy the same.. You could also take a starting load for the 460 Weatherby and work you way up.
Hi Paul.
Ahh, yes Sambar. Now your bringing back old memories. I last hunted Sambar about 30 years ago before I mover permanently to East Africa. I spent many a cold wet day in the Victorian high-county hunting Sambar, with now old friends. I recall friends showing up with all sorts or guns and...
