    458 socom for charging cats?

I fully admit: the availability of commercial ammo was a huge selling point for me in picking the 450. I do have to say: banging off 9 rounds in fast succession is actually just plain stupid fun. :)

    458 socom for charging cats?

the funny thing to me is that when push came to shove and I decided on a big bore AR15, I went .450 Bushmaster. It's hard to think of the .450 Bushie as underpowered as it basically duplicates original 45-70 loads. My current 300gr. handloads drop 3 into an inch (seriously) at 100...

What would be your Dream Hunt!??

I’m going to have to go with Marco Polo with an Ibex kicker. That’s about as crazy exotic as I can think - and actually something I really want to do. It’s on my hunting bucket list along wth Sheep. I may never be able to afford it while I can physically do it, but they are definitely on my...

Is any kind of hearing protection used on safari?

I think in the course of 20 years of hunting I’ve only fired a half dozen shots without ear protection. On safari I prefer in the war electronic plugs. I also keep a couple sets of foamies in a pocket. Generally speaking, when we hit the final stalk the left gets fully inserted and the right...

    AR-type Rifles

I purchased my POF AR10 in Burnt Bronze, 14” barrel plus 2” muzzle brake because it was the meanest, nastiest looking AR I could buy in California. No, seriously. Best part...I paid for it with a state driven unemployment check. Let’s hear it for using taxpayer dollars to buy the thing...

Some things can never be bettered?

Nicely said. Nicely said. Shall we add the trickle blue of morning smoke, a flame coaxed to life out of it's slumbering coals...the squirrel swiftly dodging the shadows and lighting tree to tree, fixated on the crumbs that fell from the lap...faded paper shotgun hulls collecting red and gray...

    Knives - Why?

Nope. I carry a small Swiss Army knife. The one called the Waiter is my favorite I think. Small blade and a corkscrew, tweezers and a toothpick. Yep, that’s been a VERY handy knife in the field! Anything more is for the Trackers & Skinners.

I love playing Internet Expert on these things. :) My bet is the lead sled is creating as many problems as it solves. I had one and ended up giving it away, especially since the recoil on the 375 isn’t that bad to me. I’m usually good for around 50 rounds off the bench with my 8.5# scoped...
